Retrofit configuration in Solman7.2

Dear All,

We want to configure Retrofit/CSOL in our existing ChaRM setup and our Solution manager is 7.2. I could not find any step by step document on Retrofit configuration for Solman7.2. The documents available for Solman7.1 is not more working because few transaction codes are obsolete and 7.2 changed a lot.

As we have charm configured so we already have continual and phase cycles. So the question are-

1. Do we need to create separate continual cycles for retrofit? or existing cycles will work?

2. What approach we should follow for retrofit. We have two landscapes (Maintenance (Dev) and Implementation (Dev Prime)).

The retrofit should be followed in which direction below?

Maint. Dev to Imp. Dev prime

Imp. Dev Prime to Maint. Dev

or Both ways

3. What about CSOL? CSOL I think should be bidirectional. Means if an object is lock in any Dev system it will be showing lock on other Dev?

Hi Sudip Saha

you can check below link for CSOL in 7.2

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/7.2%3A+How+to+work+with+Change+Request+Management+Cross+Sys...

below for retrofit in 7.2

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/7.2%3A+How+to+work+with+Change+Request+Management+Enhanced+...

however the other question you have asked about is basic question and nothing related to 7.1 or 7.2.....RETROFIT is always from Maintenance branch to Implementation Branch...even if you don't use ChaRM as well.

Thus, after your retrofit how you can sync you change from implementation track to Maintenance track is more of consulting and customer derived situation..you can also read below(Just concept for your understanding)

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/How+to+work+with+Change+Request+Management+Enhanced+Retrofi...

above should resolve ur query

Thanks

Thanks Prakhar for all your information.

you didn't answer on cycles.

1. Do we need to create separate continual cycles for retrofit? or existing cycles will work?

We have continual cycle for maintenance landscape and we will have close them and create fresh cycle for maint. landscape where we will have to include the Implementation landscape's Dev system (which will be retrofit system). Is this understanding is correct? The existing cycle doesn't allow changes to include the retrofit system.

Thanks Prakhar for your suggestion.

For configuring retrofit is it required to install CTS_PLUG component in all satellite system? I am getting the attached error while moving the changes to our Quality system. This component is installed in Solman system with release 200 and SP21.

Also do we need to adjust the workflow for normal and urgent to see Retrofit option in the charm document? I can see the retrofit in the cockpit's continual cycle. I think we are retrofitting from Maint. Dev to Impl. Dev system so only continual cycles for Urgent workflow we are touching. I mean we are going to create seperate cycle for urgent workflow becuase currently used cycles for charm doesn't have the retrofit system and I don't think it is possible to add Retrofit system in the existing cycles.

Hi Sudip,

You will have to adjust the Action profiles in the Urgent Correction to see the Start Retrofit Button. However before you go there I would recommend referring to the blogs Prakhar has suggested to get a basic understanding on 'Why' Retrofit is required. You can also refer below in addition to the blogs Prakhar suggested.

Hi Sudip Saha

if you use central cts you need to deploy the CTS plug in via solman central CTS UI.

Normally you have actions in the standard Normal and Urgent change which you can enable by copying into your custom transaction type action profile. Thus, this will enable you retrofit but remember normally they appear later not when you in development status.

Thanks
