Hi all,

I have a requirement with Free Goods Functionality

My client is manufacturing tyres.

They was to give one television free for every purchase of 100 tyres.Television is purchased from third party. Should i need to maintain the material master records for the free items purchased from third party and is it required to maintain the stocks in our storage locations???

Hi there,

Yes you have to maintain the material master & also the stocks in your plant.

This is how it goes, you will maintain the free goods determination that for 100 tyres, you will guve 1 TV free as exclusive free goods. So in an order if a customer orders 100 tyres, it will automatically have a TV as TANN item.

But since it is externally procured, you have 2 options.

You can have the vendor 1st send the TV to your plant. Then you do a GR of TV into your plant. From there you will fulfill the delivery along with free TV with 100 tyres. Here you have to maintain material master & stock for TV.

If you want the vendor to send the TV directly to customer, you need to raise a PO for which the vendor will send the TV directly to the customer. In that case you need not maintain the stock in your plant. Just material master maintainence is sufficient.

Here there should be some custom development as the delivery from vendor to customer should have a reference to the order having 100 tyres. Unless you have that, you will not be able to track for what order you are sending the TV free.

Since ur company has to procure the Television and the vendor for which master data is essential. Also when it comes to sales, u have to select the Television as free item during the sale order creation or maintaining Free good record in which u have to mention on 100 tyres, 1 television free.

Hence i personnally feel u have to maintain the master data for television.
