Hi all
we are having a little trouble with the MDSS ini configuration,
We have created out ports and maps but the
Repository ID, User, or Password have not been written to the .ini file as expected
When I edit the file manually and add the details the MDSS still will not not connect to the repository
Any Suggestion as to why the ini is not being built correctly and how I might fix this

Hi ccr,
Once you have unarchieved a Repository its deatisl should be visible in the MDSS.ini file,If thats not the case the do the following:
- Stop and Start the MDM server
- Stop and Start the Syndication service in Sevices.msc.
After doing teh following you should be able to see your repoistiry details under the MDSS.ini file unless this info gets updated automatically by the server it will not work correctly by entering the repository manually in the ini file. So making sure you have the rep visible in the inin fiel is the first step
- If this still dosent work try verifying and repairing the rep in cosole and then repeat the steps ,it could be that the rep was not correctly archieved or are having fatal errors due to which it is not getting reflected.
- Also change the user name and pwd in the console fo r that rep and then enter the new correct credentials in the ini file.
- Also check the ports setting once as the process type is set to automatic and teh correct map is given in the ports properties.Although this should not be the reason for the ini file rpoblem but do check and see.
Try out the possibilities given ,if this is a problem of some minor inconsistencies then it should be rectified.
Hope it helped
Thanks & Regards
Simona

Hey guys
thanks for the input....
the unxpected thing about it we were expecting that the MDSS ini would be populate when we start the MDSS service for a unarchieved repository with a user name and password...but its not
Is there some other MDM config settings we should consider??
or is there some config setting on the Windows server we are over looking.

Hi,
You need to restart the Syndication Server and your MDSS.ini file will be updated automatically.
Navigate to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> MDM Syndication Server
