NWDS for EHP1 Perspectives

Former Member

Dear,

I installed the NWDS for EHP1 by unzipping "NWDS_plaform.zip". When I open the NWDS inside the unzipped folder and try to change the perspective to Process Modeling, it's just not there. I've got 3 perspectives, all which seem to be standard eclipse perspectives :

Debug, Resource, Team Synchonizing.

I went to the menu Help > Software Updates > Find and Install > Search for New Features to Install. I selected "EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.1 Update Site" and when trying to log on I used our company's S-number. The same we used to download CE EHP1 ... This gives errors : 403 Forbidden. Obviously this isn't the login/pw I should be using ...

Any help? I desperately need the Process Modelling tool by now ...

Thanks in advance,

Frederik-Jan Roose

Hi,

If I understood you correctly, you are unable to get any SAP specific perspectives in the NWDS.

Are you sure that during the installation (rather update after installation) you poined to the folder which contained NWDS_platform.zip ?

In the folder that you download from SDN for NetWeaver Developer Studio for EHP1, you will find a page called start.htm

This page leads you to the the stepwise instructions for installation and update (for getting SAP specific plug-ins). Please try following these steps.

Thanks to your posts Romit and Federik.

I got it resolved. :). (Help -> Software updates -> Select IDE folder of the installation package as specified in the installation procedure).

I didn't go by the strainght way in the beginning. Accidently gave the wrong jvm and workspace.... :). later got confused. So had to do a bit of tweaking :).

Anto.

First of all, using the 710 updater site would work. It gives configuration errors but I can access without problems. So authentication is definitely not the problem.

Romit, the installation guide of NWDS for EHP1 specifically states :

This is an installer free procedure, you will have to do the following steps :

- Unpack the NetWeaver Developer Studio Platform.
- During the first start you will be asked for the your local Java SE runtime environment JDK 5.0.x javaw.exe (NWDS will not work with JRE and is not released for JDK 6.0.x)
- After restart you will be prompted for your local update site, which contains the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio features.

"The NWDS_platform.zip file contains the kernel of NWDS. The kernel does not contain the SAP features necessary to develop SAP NetWeaver applications. The SAP features are installed with the update manager."

However, there is a way to circumvent this faulty updater site :

The installation folder of NWDS for EHP1 contains a folder 'features' and 'plugins'. Just drag and drop the contents into your eclipse folder. Once you find, it's real easy. That's it ... (why can't they say this in the manual, or anywhere, or make it so by default, this is beyond me!)

When I go to the URL manually, using our login/pw I get this error :

Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

This is definitely not a 403 Forbidden Access. Trying to go to the site using a faulty log/pw gives a proper 403 error, this however is different.

This is the URL : https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/711/

Any ideas?

I have this set as policy : https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/711/policy.xml

But that link no longer exists? Could this be the issue?
