Explorer - Can this be replicated in Lumira Discovery?

We understand that in the coming years Explorer will be going away. (Assume as its flashed based this will be something of a hard stop in 2020).

We use Explorer spaces as they provide the perfect solution for an analyst who might not be very data/tech savvy look at various scenarios.

In essence, the list of facets/dimensions that can then be manipulated in the bottom charts provides a very very good solution for a casual user.

Qus: Can we do this in the current version of Lumira 2.1? i.e. Can we have sets of dimensions, and then a chart which a user can populate with selected dimensions against a measure? (We are very keen not to hit a wall in 2020!)

Thanks

Hello Joseph - see https://blogs.sap.com/2018/04/10/meet-the-expert-session-sap-bi-client-strategy-from-convergence-1.0-to-2.0/ - SAP says the Explorer use case is to be covered by SAP Analytics Cloud - see video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHXwjI5Pj2M

Do you need to stay on-premise?

I forgot to include this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkIfdVstE6A&t=60s - this is a possible option in Lumira Designer

I also heard from Lumira webinar, Discovery also moving to cloud. There is no new development in 2019 for Discovery desktop tool moving forward.

    Hi All,

Thanks for the quick responses. Those are quite detailed blogs, is below an effective summary on the Explorer specific bits?

    1. Explorer will go (with the end of flash) in 2020.

    2. There will be no localised replacement.

    3. SAP Cloud Analytics will be its replacement.

Thanks. Sorry to be pedantic but we are in a complete bind right now and need clarity to make some pretty important decisions. (A phone call from SAP would be really appreciated...hint hint)

    Joseph
