Delivery status in sales order

Hello Gurus,

While referring the SAP documentation on Shipping (SCM610-page13) I have found the following question and answer,

Question : Does the delivery status of the order tell you whether the goods have already left your warehouse? Give a reason for your answer.

Answer: No, the delivery status in the order depends solely on whether an outbound delivery already exists for the items. If you want to find out about the actual progress of the delivery, you should view the status of the outbound delivery itself.

My doubt is, will the delivery status in the sales order changes without doing Goods Issue and only by creating the delivery document?

Hello,

Normally, if the delivery is created for full quanity and the billing is delivery related, the order will be in the status as 'completed'. Like the earlier mainl said, when you do the Post Goods Issue, the PGI date get updated in the sales document document flow.

Go to the sales order VA03 --> Environment --> Status Overview, you may see the document flow from sales order till billing. But picking / packing / transporatation status can't be obtained from sales order, but can be found from the delivery document itself.

The answer is absolutely correct.

If you have created a Delivery document for the whole order quantity, then in the Status overview of the Sales order, "Delivery status" will be shown as completed.

But you will not find there, the picking status, Goods movement status etc. They will be found in the status overview of delivery. Beacuse they are sub-processes within shipping.

"Goods issue " is the date on which goods leaves for the customer to reach on the Delivery date.

This is a sub-process in shipping so you will find this date in the status overview of the Delivery as "Goods movement status".

Hi there,

When you create a delivery for a sales order it will update in the doc flow. If will update the dates on which the delivery is created, picking done, packing / handling unit done & PGI done. it will update the doc flow with the dates.

So when PGI is done for the delivery, date will be updated in the sales order doc flow. So we will know of the PGI is done for the delivery doc. But weather the delivery left the warehouse or not we will know it in the delivery doc itself.

When you see the status of the order it will show weather the delivery is open / processed / closed. Apart from that, it will not give any firther info.
