I have heard that the answer to above question is YES.

Can you gurus confirm that?

Thanks!

Yes,for basic scenarios no extra effort in terms of coding is required, for more complex requirements you might need to do some custom mapping or modules or proxies.

So, can we put it this way:

if you do not know JAVA, do not get into PI development.

Thanks!

I would say NO. If you do not know java but still have interest in XI.. it is not all a problem.. all the Java that is needed for most of the scenarios is String handling..if you know C++ you know Java..!! I was a C++ guy..!!

All that you need is passion towards the technology..!! If you have that.. everything else would be secondary..

May I refine my question again:

If I do not want to do coding, should I do PI development?

Thanks for your help.

Sure you can do PI development without any coding

But lets say you are working at a clients place, all the scenarios are simple but there is one scenario which requires some Java mapping,in that case what will you do?Will u tell client that he needs to hire somebody just for that 1 interface?definitely not.

The point we are trying to prove is that you can work in PI without any coding but there could be cases where you need to do some coding .

Any enterprise wide development process needs some level of coding. Can you do XI/PI development without coding? Yes. Is it suitable for enterprise wide development? May be not. Have I ever worked in a XI project, where I didn't have to code in PI? Never.
