Do not use field check box in vendor master for Fax

Hi,

As in vendor master record under comm. tab for fax their is check box 'Do not use' which when checked then that fax number can't be used in future for communicaton. But in my case when i am checking that box still fax is moving out to that number.

Can any one please tell me why this is happening?

And i can't delete that number bcoz i have to keep it as a record also i don't want to maintain any other fax number means i don't want any more fax comm.
