SOAP sender HTTPS without Client Authentication

Hi SDNites,

I am configuring a Sender SOAP adapter with HTTPS. It has 2 options,

1. HTTPS without client authentication - My understanding is this does not require certificate. We need to provide HTTPS url with correct PI port to 3rd party and they will be able to access SAP PI Service Interface by using only user name and password (This is only for login)

2. HTTPS with client authentication - It requires certificates to be installed in NWA.

Please confirm if the above is true. If yes, I am trying to use "HTTPS without client authentication" and it is making a call to SAP PI but am not able to view the payload. Please let me know your thoughts.

    Hello Abhi,

Your understanding is correct. If you select HTTPS without Client Authentication, then the call happens with User ID / Password.

In your case, I would suggest to check the WSDL that is generated and see if it contains both HTTP & HTTPS URL.

Also, test with SOAP UI. Below is what your behavior will be,

    • If you use a HTTP URL in SOAP UI, you will get a Error back that says - Only HTTPS URL is allowed.
    • If you use a HTTPS URL in SOAP UI, the request should go through.

I think in your case the 3rd Party system is making the call with a HTTP URL and hence you are not able to view the message in PI as this is getting rejected.
