Cost element problem (Tcode: KA02)

Hi SAP experts,

Just wanna ask u about "cost element category". I just wanna know what is the different between "21 - internal settlement" and "43 - internal activity aloocation".

I'm having a problem when doing time confirmation for my work order. i tried to change the cost element category but failed since there was a posting for the related cost element.

Hi,

Category 21

Used to settle order costs or project costs to objects in Controlling (CO), such as orders, profitability segments, cost centers, and projects. Cost elements of this category cannot be used for settlement to objects outside of CO (assets, materials, general ledger accounts, and so on).

Category 43

Used to allocate costs during internal activity allocation and for allocating process costs which is stored in KP26.

You can change the cost element/activity type in a diferrent period using menu Edit -> Analysis period

Else create a new CE with type 43 and maintain this in the activity type (create new).

Activity Type and CE master data behaves in same manner i.e., you can not change it if you'ev already have any plan/actual data posted using it.
