Alerts to External E-mail PI 7.0 SP13

Hi,

I'm trying to configure alerts to an external e-mail id and was browsing through some the answers in forum.

And it surprised me that I do not see some options mentioned in those answers on my SAP screen 😔

1) RWB >ALERT INBOX > PERSONALIZATION--> Time Independent Delivery and Email are selected.

Que: The personalization options I have are Mail, Fax and SMS. I do not see a "E-Mail" option, am I missing something or its the same "Mail" option?

2) Also, In ALRTCATDEF, go to SETTINGS--> CONFIGURATION. By default, the option selected is INTERNAL PROCESSING. Select the option SMTP FORWARDING AS XML and give the email id. This will enable you to send an email alert whenever an error occurs in XI.

Que: When I go to ALRTCATDEF -> Settings -> Configuration, I see only 3 sections Inbound Processing,Status Handling with Mails and Logging.

I do not see Processing , Personalization and XML Formatting sections.

Are things different in PI 7.0 SP 13 or I need to configure/ activate something?

Note: Alerts to RWB -> Alert inbox are working perfect.

I'm able to send e-mails to external mail ID from SAP Inbox, so I guess SMTP in SCOT is configured right.

Please help!!

Regards,

Anish

    Hi,

In personalisation --. substitute u need to give u r XI user id

and in SU01 u need to declare u r email ID to u r XI user id

    REad the below

To send an EMAIL, assign an EMAIL ID to the corresponding user in the transaction SU01 and then set up SCOT and you can send emails when the ALERT is triggered.

Once you have configure Alerts, you will get the Alerts into ALERT INBOX in RWB of the user. To also get the email, the following needs to be done,

    1. In SU01 -- Assign the Email ID for the Recipient of the ALERT.

    2. In , RWB >ALERT INBOX > PERSONALIZATION--> Time Independent Delivery and Email are selected.

    3. Finally, SCOT needs to be set up to send Emails. Check this for the same. You can ask your BASIS team to do this step.

Also, In ALRTCATDEF, go to SETTINGS--> CONFIGURATION. By default, the option selected is INTERNAL PROCESSING. Select the option SMTP FORWARDING AS XML and give the email id. This will enable you to send an email alert whenever an error occurs in XI.

Also, to test your Alerts, execute the report RSALERTTEST in SE38.

    Hey Anish,

The option 1 Yes, EMAIL and MAIL have been confused. I guess this is one of myold answers! 😊

The options 2 , yes seems to have been removed in the later version of PI. It was available on XI 3.0 SP14 but there after somehow the option was of no true business use and hence I am assuming was eliminated.

    Bhavesh

      Thanks everyone!

      I solved the issue.

      1) Set Time-Independent Delivery and select option "Mail".

      2) Set e-mail address in SU01 and select Comm.Meth as E-Mail.

Also make sure that SMTP is configured right in SCOT.

      Regards,

      Anish
