SAP PI FTP error 426 for windows IIS

Hi,

We are experiencing an issue between SAP PI 7.0 SP15 on P-Series AIX IBM Server and the Windows IIS FTP server. The interface in PI does connect to 3 systems with the FTP file adapter (a Mainframe, an AS400 and a Windows IIS FTP server). The mainframe and the AS400 connection are working fine but for the IIS we are getting a FTP failure in 90% of the transfers in 10% it works. With other clients (also one based on JFTP) everything works fine with the IIS server. The files are only 2kb and not to large as described in the File Adapter FAQ note.

There where tests with active (FTP failure 500) and passive connections, the timeout value was increased on both sides. The connection bandwidth reached never more than 40% and there were always enough CPU processes available on both sides.

Following technical details for the passive connection failure:

XI we do get following error log in MDT

2008-09-09 20:27:01 Success Connecting to FTP server "bla.com"

2008-09-09 20:27:02 Success Write to FTP server "bla.com", directory "/sapedi/Outbound/856otest", -> file "SAPASN253201157.txt"

I was having the same difficulty and finally gave up on it. If anyone has a solution or ideas on the difficulty with FTP adapter talking to Windows IIS ftp please share.

    Hi All,

I see that many get this problem in SAP PI but the question is not answered properly over in SDN.

FTP 426 error: there might be many reason for this to occur.

Mostly the main reason is: check weather you SAP Server is running on CLuster environment or not? if yes check below link

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;817829

In cluster environment there will be a Central instance and a secondary node. thou we will use same hostname but the ip address would be different hence the problem. kindly go through the link.

    Another workAround:

If its not solving. configure a FIle Adapter in NFS mode. and write a SCRIPT which will do the job for you (connect to the ftp location and place the file). and place/call script in the RUN OPERATING SYSTEM COMMAND in the advanced tab.

THe 426 errir problem only occurs when you try to do FTP from you application running on cluster environment.

but same way when you try to run FTP from OS command prompt. this problem will not come. hence this workaround will work.

Note: If its not even connecting from Command Prompt then there is some firewall or Antivrus which is killing the operation. please check the logs and rectify it in the FTP server.

    Thanks,

    Senthilprakash.
