Hi,

i'm currently trying to add new System with User "DEVUSER" in HANA Studio Eclipse Plugin which runs on a tenant Database, but if i try to login the application will always give me the same error:

"The system cannot be reached the logon data could not be used"

My Input for adding the System is:

Host Name: 172.22.107.198 (Server IP in ifconfig)

Instance Number: 90.

Database Option: Multiple Containers -> Tenant Database (NAME: HDB)

Username: DEVUSER (I already tried to change my password)

The strange thing is, that on the Database Explorer, the new System DEVUSER is already connected.

One more thing to know is, that im currently running my HANA Express Server on a Linux PC, while my HANA Studio runs on a seperate Windows PC.

Thanks in Advance

Yeah I tried all these steps already especially the one part, were you have to open the ports.

I opened the ports 39015,39003 and 30013.

On the SAP Database Explorer my System Devuser runs fine.

So what were the results of the steps after you opened the ports? What is the trace showing?

After I opened the ports, I still got the same error message, that the System could not be reached.

I enabled the JDBC trace for System DevUser, but the log was still empty the next time I tried to add the System.

First, those ports are incomplete and 30013 should be 39013 if your istance number is 90. Please refer to the documentation for the complete list of ports

Second, you say you see DEVUSER in the database explorer. Is that XSA's DB explorer? You also say the tenant database is HDB, you have created both a new user AND a new tenant database (the default one in HANA Express is HXE)?

You should be getting a different error and without the trace it is hard to tell what the problem is. Please reply as a comment with the complete information on the troubleshooting, otherwise, i cannot guess.

Hi,

I tried all these steps out, but nothings unfortunately seems to help.

By the way. I opened the ports 39015,39003,30013

In the Database Explorer, it already shows System "HDB@localhost(DEVUSER)" and is running fine.

Hi,

sorry for my late response. I tried your troubleshooting blog again and luckily i could add the system HDB successfully with User "Devuser".

The problem was the missing port (39013) you mentioned in your last response. Thank you very much for your fast help.

I have still a question left, because i want to know if there is a difference between a HDB and a HXE database. In my HANA Express Installation I declared the System Database as a HDB and not HXE. I tried now to connect to a HXE database, but I got an error that there doesn't exist a HXE Database.

New questions should be separate in the Q&A so that information is kept organized and useful to everyone. "HXE" is the default tenant database that comes in all HANA Express instances. I generally advise against creating new tenants for no reason because they take up additional resources.
