HELP: 0 from 0 records: Initialization Option of source system

Former Member

I executed an 'Initialization option for source system' on the scheduler and no data is coming from the source system.

Steps taken:

1. Delete data from target DSO

2. Picked InfoPackage and selected it returns back 'Initialization option for source system' on the scheduler

3. Deleted the initialization setting

4. Executed InfoPackage

Result: "0 from 0 records" found. How do I fill the queue table in the source system if not records are available? T

5. I go to delete the request in the PSA to retry: "No data in the PSA".

This is to resolve a HIGH status ticket because I stopped delta process of other Infoproviders until this situation is resolved.

Can you provide detail steps to properly create a trigger delta data from R/3 from a "Initialization Option of source system". We have cancelled delta undates until this is resolved.

Hi

Are you running the Initialization with data transfer or without data transfer.

To get all the data and set the delta pointer, run the init with data transfer.

Steps-->

for the delta IP.

Goto maintain variant\display variant

Scheduler menu option

Initialization option for source system

Delete the init flag avalable there

Now, Run the init IP with data transfer.

Now run the delta.

this way all the data will be avaliable and delta pointer will be set correctly.

Hope this helps

Where is the option to "maintain variant\display variant" I do not see that. I already executed the "Initialize option for source system" and got no data. Your instruction does not have me do anything different that I already did, with the exception of the "maintain variant/display variant". Should I attempt to run a "Initialize without data transfer" instead of the "initialize with data transfer?"

Thanks

This is the message I am getting back: Check: No successful initialization of the delta update took place

Hi

By Maintain/Display Varaint, I mean, open the delta IP.

If you run initialize without data transfer(you might not get the all the data), if you are running it for the first time(setting up the delta) then you can run initialisation without data transfer.

And if you are getting the message"Check: No successful initialization of the delta update took place".It means that the initialization has failed or something wrong with that.

In that case you need to delete the init flag

and run the init again.

and if you run init without data transfer you will get only one record.

Very helpful. Where do I delete the 'initial' flag? You are correct, I tried to do an intialization with no data transfer and got one record. I

Once I set the delete initial flag, after you tell me how, i will try again.

Thank you

Hi

Now that you have run the init once, there is no need to delete the init flag

The delta pointer is set now, you can run the delta Ip from now onwards.

But if there were already some previous deltas done for this, and the delta had failed, because of which you have to initialise the delta again, then you need to delete the previous initialisation.

To delete the init flag.

Open your delta IP in RSA1(or in the PC)

Goto the scheduler menu option

initialization option for source system

There you will see that a window will pop up which will show a succesful load, and you will see a tick mark in the first column.

If you see a cross mark that would mean that the initialization has failed.

this mark whihc you see is called the init flag.

If you need to reinitialize the delta, then you have to delete this .

Select the entire row and click the third button at the bottom.

This will delete the initialization for source system( i.e init flag)

now, before running the delta, you have to run the init IP again.

it depends on the scenario whether you hav to run with data transfer or without data transfer.

Hope this clarifies the query

Yes, I saw the cross mark and deleted the line item. Is there any thing I can do, such as logging into the source system to push data into the queue (rsa7) or will the inital with data transfer perform that data set up for me. I am still getting zero records with a yellow traffic light. I have been resetting the light on the monitor in order to keep trying to load the data.

If you do init with data transfer, it will get all the data from the source system and set the delta pointer.

Then you run the delta for that. It will pick 0 records but will turn green. Then next delta from there on will pick the new/changed records

Thank you. I deleted the initi flag and ran the delta load with data transfer, 0 records were found; so I logged into the source system of SAP R/3 and deleted the 0 queue request for the InfoPackage.

In BI, I went to the datasource and pressed the 'manage' icon and saw that the delta load did start; although it gave me 0 records from the InfoPackage monitor. I left it run and all records were pulled. The only issue I have left is that I need to schedule delta loads; but the same infoPackage that I used to do the initialization is the one I need for scheduling deltas. The system is telling that no other delta can be run until I delete out the initit flag for the infoPackage; but I am afraid to do that for fear that I will miss up the delta triggers/flags; since now the delta process should work.

Hi

To do delta, you an use a copy of the same IP, and it removes any scope of confusions

The init IP you can name as IN in the end, and use DT in name of the delta IP.

Once you create the copy of the init IP.

Go inside the delata IP,

Go to Update tab, Change the setting to delta update.

You are probably trying to run the same init IP without changing the settings, this can be the reason that the system is asking you to delete the init flag

Because initialization can be done only once.

Yu can use the same Ip also, just change the setting to delta after running the initialization.

By doing this, you will not miss any records

Great idea. I did it and you are right. The naming convention of the InfoPackages are crucial to remove confusion. Should I delete the InfoPackages that I no longer need? Can I delete in production or will I need to create them in Dev, capture them in a transport, and migrate them to production?

Hi

It is generally recommended to make any changes in dev and then transport them to production.

But i think creating a copy of the IP wont harm much, but still having the similar structure in dev and prod boxes will again avoid any confusions.

The load started with a 0 to 0 record load; however, in a few minutes I hit refresh and the count increased. I guess the point is to wait a bit.

Please note that since the DSO feed data to a Cube, I had to initialize delta with data transfer at two levels:

1. Source system to DSO (Infopacakge loading data into DSO

2. Datamart level (InfoPacakge loading data from DSO to Cube)

Probelm solved.

Please not I have read other postings on "Initialization option' discussions and they do not address this scenario.
