Essbase Universe and Reports

Hi All,

Require your help with questions for Essbase Universe creation steps?

Environment : SAP BI 4.2 on a Unix Server. Essbase 11

1)Where to get the right Essbase middleware installation package for a BO Unix server?

2)What configuration /environment variables changes required on the BO Unix server? Are these changes required on local machines too?

3)There was known issue even in BI 4.0 regarding performance in Essbase Universe? Any realtime experiences for Unix or Windows?

I believe you need to have the full version of essbase client to get this working with all the product.

After the installation is done than do the following.

Configured environment variables for the Essbase data source version 11.1.2.1 and Higher and the oracle client

• ESSBASEPATH=%EPM_ORACLE_HOME%\common\EssbaseRTC-64\11.1.2.0
• PATH=%EPM_ORACLE_HOME%\bin;%EPM_ORACLE_HOME%\common\EssbaseRTC-64\11.1.2.0\bin;%PATH%

Copy the 3 following JAR files from the Oracle Essbase client installation directory to the java\lib BIP installation directory. This ensures that hierarchy levels are determined spontaneously in the Query Panel and can be selected in the query.

• %EPM_ORACLE_HOME%\_vpddb\Gen1\engine\1.0\library\ojdl.jar
• %EPM_ORACLE_HOME%\common\EssbaseJavaAPI\11.1.2.0\lib\ess_japi.jar
• %EPM_ORACLE_HOME%\common\EssbaseJavaAPI\11.1.2.0\lib\ess_es_server.jar
