Solution Landscape: why Request Check-out button could get greyed out ?

Former Member

Hi,

We are on SolMan 7.0, SP15, including Ent. Edition add on.

In Solution Landscape maintenance, the Business Processes added to the solution (either directly or those borrowed from a Project) cannot be checked out to a maintenance project becasue the Request button is greyed out.

A simplistic SU53 check did not come up with any authorisation problems.

I am not able to switch on trace and take that route to detect now.

Can you please suggest as to what could be the possible reasons for this to be greyed out; also, have you used the 'Adjust to Original' button to bring latest changes in Project to Solution Landscape ?

Best regards,

Srini

Check the follwoing:

- in transaction SOLMAN_DIRECTORY go to the solutions level, double click and go to the Solution Settings Tab.

- switch of the tickbox "enable Check-out/Check-in of Solution Structure elements

I experienced that in this switch opens the possibility to checkout/check in

Hi Rutger,

Thanks for your kind reply.

There is one problem - I am not able to see in my SolMan the 'tickbox' you have mentioned about.

The only sub-sections I see in the Tab there are:

(1) Monitoring

(2) Knowledge Warehouse Information

(3) Copy Criteria for Document

(4) Session Languages

(5) Assigned Maintenace Project

If it's feasible for you, can you please let me have a look at your screenshot as to how the sections look like. I wonder if there is any component missing to be installed.

Best wishes and thanks for your time.

Hi Rutger,

Thanks for your pointer again. I got a screenshot from a different friend (on another SolMan instance). Came to know of where these check boxes should occur.

Later, I found them in my instance too - the browsing scroll bar was the culprit. One had to go to the very bottom, move the scroll to the right extreme and then move further down. Really a silly mistake.

But, without your help, I wouldn't have know that there were such check boxes at the first place

Cheers,

Srini

Hi Srini,

Ok, good, fine thatt you've found it, maybe you can help me with another topic:

As you know when you create an Issue or Test Case in SSM, you can select a SAP Component. The case is:

when I store my testcases centrally (SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN) in the SSM, I got the SSM Component list,

when I switch this box of, and store them on the Satellite system, I will get the ECC Component list.

What I want is to store them centrally on the SSM, but assign the ECC component list, but how??

Thanks for your help

Hi Rutger,

I wasn't aware so far, that the Components offered for choice was dependent on where one stores the Test Cases.

Seems like yet another not easy to change code of Support Message functionality of SolMan.

I had a quick look at IMG and there does not seem to be any place where you can change the pointers.

In the worse case scenario, you may have to use a custom transaction type (by copying SLFN) and write a piece of code in User Exit to get this accomplised for the new transaction type alone.

Hi Rutger,

I have a related problem and hope you can solve this -

I was playing around with assignment of Maintenance Project, check out, check in etc. I deleted the assignment of a particular Maintenance Project and in place of that, assigned a new Maintenance Project, to trial certain functions.

Now, against the field called 'Check-out Status', those buttons like Request Check Out, Check In etc. have disappeared.

Is this a bug or something ? Any buffer to clear ? Really, these are topics with very less documentation on the net.

I would be grateful for any tip/ solution you can provide.

Regards,

Srini
