Web IDE or Web IDE Full Stack?

Hello,

I was wondering wether to recommend using the Web IDE 'normal' version or the Full Stack to a customer with the main aim to develop and extend Fiori applications.

The last info I could find about this topic is from a blog from 09/2017 and it recommends the 'normal' Web IDE for Fiori development.

On the other hand, quite a lot of new Fiori related features have been made available in the Full Stack that are not avalable in the 'normal' version.

Any info or recommendations?

Thanks,

Marvin

Hi Marvin,

If your customer's main goal is developing and extending Fiori then the "normal" SAP Web IDE is still their tool of choice.

However please let them know that they will be required to "migrate" their developed applications from the "normal" Web IDE to SAP Web IDE Full-Stack sometimes in the near future.
This migration is fairly easy with a wizard provided by us and it's based on Git, so also recommend them to store their code in a Git repository.

Regards,
Michal.

Hi Marvin,

Please allow me add more information below.

The key value of Web IDE Full Stack is this version is based on a more capable and scalable open-source server-side foundation, and offers advanced features that are not available in the regular productive SAP Web IDE version, such as Support for SAP Leonardo,Multi-cloud support,Seamless Integration with SAP API Business Hub etc. If you now only use Fiori development, Web IDE is enough, but if you might involve the above feature in your landscape, that is necessary to change to WEB IDE Full-Stack version.
