Hello Shwetha,

Location is where the equipment is physically located within the plant premises.

Plant Section is the Division of Plant under which the equipment or functional location comes.

Example:

Consider a thermal power plant. There is a Condensate Extraction Pump located in the Zero meter elevation of CCR building.

So the location of the equipment will be "CCR Building" or "0m Level" depending upon how deeper you define the locations.

On the other hand, the plant section will Turbine system (broader) or Condensate system.

Thanks,

Thank You..!!We are already defining this through functional location na,

Why do we need again these two fields..???

Shwetha,

If your Functional Location covers everything that you need to know and use about the Ownership, Responsibility, and Physical Location of the object, then you have no need for the Plant Section and Location fields.

In other situations, these aspects may be more complex. These fields provide a way identify additional aspects in a manner independent from the FLoc Hierarchy. Sometimes there is an exception cases for Location or Responsibility to the regular FLoc Hierarchy which is based on the Business Organization. The fields allow the ability to add something additional which can be used to search, filter, authorize, or assist in finding the object.

Hi Shwetha,

Functional Location is the functional classification. It may not necessarily overlap the physical location. Even though you cover Plant Section in your functional location,it may help you in reporting purposes.

Even if you opt of BW/BO reports these fields can be used for effective and easier filtration.
