Powerbuilder 11.1 License failure

Hi,

I had to re-install powerbuilder 11.1 on my windows 7 computer and I used the lmutil utility to get my DISK SERIAL Num. I applied it to my machine and when I launch powerbuilder 11.1 I receive the following message:

Failure in: sylapi_checkout() - code: -100

License has truly failed.powerbuilder.png

James,

When you open your license with a text editor, does it have INCREMENT PB_ENTERPRISE SYBASE 2008.06240? If so, there is not a way to make that license work with earlier builds of PB 11.1.

The site you are generating your license on is the old Sybase site. There is an email contact listed, spdc_help@sap.com. I'd email them and see if they can help you get the correct license. I am not sure if they can help you or not but if you do not hear back you could try contacting SAP CIC by telephone or chat for non-technical issues https://support.sap.com/en/contact-us.html . as PB licenses are perpetual. You can reference this post if they need more info on what you need.

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

I do not know what build i had on my machine. I was given a new machine and I went to the sybase download center to re-issue a new license which shows PB11.1 and ran the installation package that I still have. Any ideas on how I can get this to work?

Hi James,

Did you previously have a later build of PB 11.1 on your machine? The license you are using is for PB 11.5.

For PB 11.1, this line in your license file would be:

INCREMENT PB_ENTERPRISE SYBASE 2007.02120

yours is

INCREMENT PB_ENTERPRISE SYBASE 2008.06240

which is for PB 11.5.

Although the license should be backward compatible, there was a bug in earlier versions of PB 11.1 and you would need to be on build 8226 or higher with PB 11.1 or PB 11.2 build 8616 or higher.

This but is documented in KBA 1879297

If you have an EBF available, please apply it and your licensing should work.
