Hello every one.
We have more and more business units which are looking into the possibility to run the Lead to Opportunity business with different processes. One part of the Lead business is based on Products other parts of the lead business is to be used for new deals coming in. However these new deals are classified. Normally you would be able to control this by creating new document types and then setup the confidentiality when creating roles. This is not possible for leads to my knowledge, So I have created an Idea on the idea forum here:
However I would like to ask if anyone have found a workaround already working within C4C today.Hi Martin,
leads is raw data that is derived from campaigns, trade shows, and other marketing activities. You can create a lead with either Company/Existing account/Individual customer. Lead Document type is not available in C4C
You can covert lead to Opportunity or Account and contact.
Note:- You can also directly create sales quote from lead under sale quotes tab, if lead has been created with existing account.

Amit Kumar

Yes , as rightly understood by you , currently C4C doesn't support document types lead.
At Lead stage , we are still unsure if the lead can become a potential customer or not with whom we can initiate a business.
Because of this reason , we don't initiate any transactions (Quote or Order.) until it becomes a potential customer Account or we convert it to an Opportunity.
This is why we see the functionality of document types are available from opportunity .
Considering this use case , the functionality was neither in place nor the workarounds.
You might try to define extension field mapping it to the document type values as in opportunity , but this will need custom logic for determinations and consistency everywhere it is used.
