Administrator Workbench (RSA1) on NWVR 2004s/7.0

I am new to SAP & totally lost. Asked this question on BI board & advised to go to BASIS -- not sure where is that & so asking here. Below is what I tried to do & got.

With client 001 -> RSA1 (as SAP*)

Got message: "You can work only on 000"

Then with client 000 -> user SAP* -> RSA1

Got message:

"System NVR client 000 has no logical name!

Naming takes place through assignment to a logical system.

You might have to create another logical system before you can do this."

Create Assign Cancel

Selected Create

Got message -- "No changes for user SAP* allowed."

Selected Display -- got message "Changes cannot be made, display user only."

Ran T-Code: SU01D

User SAP*

Alias Blank

Selected Display

Profiles -> SAP_ALL

Roles -> Blank

Single Roles Composite Roles ??

When selected "Single Roles" I got bunches of roles. Which role should I select that will allow me to run RSA1 or I need to something else?

Thanks a lot for all your help.

Hello. Step-by-step. Try this first of all create some user in yuor 001 cliente (best if you have other, 100 for example) and give him SAP_ALL for example. After relogin in system under this user, go to se16 -->in "table name" write rsadmina , press enter --> after press execute (F8) -->

select "BW", press change (F6) and change BWMANDT to your required client number( if you want to work in 001 change to 001). Save settings, after try to execute your RSA1 t-code.

P.S. about "logical system", you can create the "logical system" name in transaction BD54 with name

<System ID>CLNT<Client>.

Example :

If your central system is BW1, client 100, the name would be:

BW1CLNT100.

After assigning a Logical System to a Client in transaction SCC4 --> Switch to change mode.

Call the detail display of the client that you want to assign a logical system by double clicking on the line of the client (for example, client 100).

In the Logical System field add your created <System ID>CLNT<Client>.

Regards.

Sergo / Ashutosh,

I don't know the words that can describe my gratitude & thanks to both of you. What I couldn't do for quite some time, you 2 fantastic people helped me to solve that in days -- I also admire your time in writing all the steps (there were some typing or other mistakes but I figured out that).

Once more, valuable people like you are the gems of this board -- SALUTE to you.

I might come back here again on another issue and I hope I will get help from you and others.

Thank you gentlemen.

Have a great/wonderful time.

Sincerely,

Anjan

Dear Anjan,

Just want to clarify few things:

1. Initial SAP installation has 3 default client and it would be a better approach to create a new client via tcode SCC4 and work on that.Even when you are working with client 000 create few new users via Tcode SU01 and then proceed.

Client: 000->is a standard SAP client and used to store defaults for all tables and sample data.

Client: 001->is a copy of 000 and should be used to generate other clients

Client: 006-> used for EarlyWatch services only.

2. Now how to proceed.

login to 000 client with the user SAP* and create a new user via tcode SU01(you can use SAP* also,but creating a new user is recommended as we should maintain the sanity of SAP*)

Give user name and click on create(press F8)

Now in the address tab give the details like name,title,etc

In the logon tab give initial password(that will be your default password) and repeat passowrd.User group as SUPER and validity period.

You can ignore other tabs because you are creating a user having full authorization.

In the profile tab give SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW and press enter-->save and back.

3.Now logon to the 000 client with this new user and default password which you have given.A popup will appear asking you to give the passoword again.Give the passowrd(other than the default passowrd0

3.Now enter tcode SCC4>click on chang/display(pen smbol)>and then click on create(F5)

give client number (XXX where XXX is an integer number)) and short description.std currency,client role.(leave logical name for the time being)

Save and back.

4.Now enter the new client(XXX )with user SAP* and password PASS

4.Now you need to do a local client copy from the default client 000 into this newly created client.

use tcode SCCl-->give source client as 000 and profile SAP_ALL(All client data except change document) and then you can schedule it in background or immediately.

Now you can monitor the client copy log via Tcode SCC3.

5.Once finished now you can create the logical name via tcode SALE.From tree Idocs....>basis settimgs>define logical system.

For syntax and naming convetion you can take the help from Sergo's post.

6. Now after creating logical system name you need assign on.

Proceed same way as in step 5.Basic settings-->assign logical systems.

And assign this logical system name to the newly created client.
