Inspection Lot for STO against one plant but for another skip lot

Former Member

Looking for a solution with the inspection lot creation process where we have multiple plants (plant A and B) shipping the same material on STO purchase orders (type UD) to another plant (plant X). During the goods receipt, we want the material coming plant A to create a "Skip Lot" inspection lot, while the same material from plant B creates an inspection lot that is for inspection. Problem is that the STO PO does not use vendor master. Source for the material is the supplying plant, thus we are unable to utilize the quality level record referencing a vendor to drive the two shipments separately through inspection.

So, with all that said, anyone else know of other solutions that might work? Or perhaps there is something we didn't understand with the above that might actually work for our situation? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Tushar,

Your case seems to be related to Stock Transfer of Material from One Plant A to other Plants B & C and you want to generate Inspection Lot automatically for Plant 'B' but at the same time you don't want to generate the Inspection Lot for the Plant 'C'. OK.. (Please correct me if i am wrong)

You do it Quaite esily...

1. Extend the same material code in all Three plants.

2. Maintain the Quality view and Activate Inspection Type '08' (Stock Transfer Inspection) in 'Inspection Setup Data in B Plant material.

3. Please also select 'Post to Insp. Stock' , so that material can come to Quality Stock.

4. Now whenever the STO will take place from A Plant to B , System will generate an Inspection lot which will be Stock relevent.

Thanks.

Hi Atul,

Thanks for your reply but the condition is opposite.I want to receive material in Plant A from 2 different plant B & C. If material is coming from B i need inspection & if it from C then no inspection.

I think it clear you the problem,as inspection type 08 works as for receiving plant not for sending.

Hi,

In this case, do not maintain any inspection type for the material in the receiving plant whre you want a skip status.

As the QM data is plant dependent, this is possible.

I believe you can still set up these plants with either vendor numbers or as manufactuers. Then you can assign them to two different incoming inspection plans.

Have one plan set up to create nothing but skip lots, the other, normal inspections.

Hi Craig,

The problem i am facing is not for incoming material but for STO.In STO we have plant not vendor code even i tried with manufacture part number but it is not working.

Please try to understand the problem as it is on same plant say "X" where i want to have inspection if material is coming from one plant say "A" & no inspection when material is coming from another plant say "B".

Hi Prashant,

Problem is that we can have inspection on receiving plant not on sending plant.

Think about it.

Yes.. I understand they are STO's. And I'm telling you that the plants can be set up with vendor number like a vendor and a STO created using the vendor number. Then you can use separate plans.

I'm not an SD guy so I would advise you to talk to an SD consultant or post in the SD forum about how to go about doing this.
