How EHS Incident Management Approval workflow WS00500003 is getting trigger

Is there any prerequisite configuration for triggering EHS Incident Management Approval workflow WS00500003. WS00500001 is getting triggered but not WS00500003 is not getting triggered.

Hi Soumalya,

the standard Incident Approval workflow is embedded in the Incident Reporting workflow WS00500034.

In order to start the Incident Reporting workflow, you have to navigate into the Reports/Documents section, generate the OSHA or any other legal form and press button Send.

After that, the incident reporting workflow is triggered and all users with standard role SAP_EHSM_HSS_INCIDENT_MANAGER will receive a work item to approve the incident report.

Thanks for your response, is approval workflow WS00500003 is getting triggered when Reports/Documents is getting generated? Not in time of creation of the incident?

Hi Soumalya,

no problem. That is correct, at the time of creation of the incident, there is no approval step included in the standard. This would require an enhancement of the standard incident lifecycle workflow.

SAP DBS has taken this requirement and developed a custom workflow with approval at time of creation of the incident. It is included in one of the EHS engineered services.

Do you need this requirement in a customer project?

Thanks a lot for the response, it is really a helpful one. Our requirement is as follows,

1) During creation of incident approval mail will go to incident reporter’s line manager

2) If line manager approves email notification will go to reporter to assign investigator

3) If line manager rejects email notification will go to reporter to close the incident

4) If line manager does not approved/reject within 48 hours approval will be triggered to HSSE Manager (group mail box)

Can you please help me out with this requirement how custom solution can be developed?

great, that I could help out!

I would suggest to enhance the standard incident lifecycle workflow WS00500001 via the SAP Business Workflow tools. There are some HR BAPIs available you probably need as well to identify the respective line manager.
