MDM workflow entries are not showing in UWL

Former Member

Hi All,

Currently I am using Business Partners repository.I checked the workflow property AutoLaunch is Immediate. I can see worlfow items in MDM Data Manager. For that I opened MDM Data Manager with repository (Business Partner) --> (selected table) Business Partner --> (Selected tab) Workflows. Here I am able to see some tasks with status as Completed and Received. But I am not getting any task or notification in UWL. Here, again explaining what are all the steps, I have done in the portal.

1. Imported 3 sca files with version of MDM 5.5 SP06.

2. Created 2 systems for Business partner and Products Reposiory.Named alias as SAP_MDM_Repository_Bupa, SAP_MDM_Repository_Prod.(Because, standard mdm uwl config file using these alias names for system).Done user mapping with owner of the workflow.

3. Referesh the UWL System

4. Created UWL Connector for MDM in UWL Administration page. Status of this connection is Successfull.

5. Done Clear Cahe for All UWL Systems.

Then I entered into the Business partner repositorty (through MDM Data Manager)--> Changed one record.

For this Change I am getting task that status as completed in MDM Data manager under ther Workflows tab of

the corresponding table. But I am NOT getting any entries regarding this in UWL.

And also, I am not able view the MDM task attributes in UWL.

Please help me to solve this.

Thanks,

Venkatesh R

Hi Venkatesh,

Are you using the standard business content repository for Business partner in MDM or have customized it.

If you have used a custom rep or have modified the Std rep then I feel you will have to modify the xml file for the uwl settings accordingly.

Also check the Repository properties details under the created system.

Hope It Helped,

Hi,

I am using only standard business partner repository. I didn't make any changes in this repository. This repository content showing standard MDM iviews in Portal.I have created users for Master Data Expert, business expert users and assingned corresponding roles to these users. For these users, able to read & search data from this repository.

And also I have created custom repository and Result Set iView. It is working.Only the problem, workflow entries are not coming to UWL.

Hi Venkatesh,

The system with which Custom repository is connected should have the main table name under the property Tables with workflow. Also refresh the UWL iView from the iView itself.

If it doesn't work then you need to redeploy all the 3 SCA files and restart the Portal Server.

Hi Jitesh,

I did already this. I have deloyed 3 SCA files and followed all steps in another portal server. The same problem happening on that server also.

Following SCA files, I have deployed in portal server,

BPMDMTECHN06_0.sca

BPMDMAPPLI06_0.sca

MDMJAVAAPI06_0.sca

Hi All,

Currently I am using MDM 5.5 SP06 (No Patch). MDM server DB is Oracle. Right now I am not able to connect MDM workflow with UWL. I got one SAP Note for MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch1 Hotfix2. It says like belown.

Bug Fixes

BP MDM APPLICATION 5.5 & BP MDM TECHNOLOGY 5.5 (Portal)

Fixed: UWL iView was working only with workflows from the MS SQL

repositories. Other DBMS types was not supported.

SAP Note No: 1146927.

And also, Patch 2 and patch3 has some enhancements for workflow.

1. Will this patch update solve my problem?.

2. And also, above 3 patches have some enhancements for workflow. I want all patch updates. So, Whether I need update patches one by one or Shall upadte patch3 directly?.

Thanks,

Venkatesh R

Hi Venkatesh,

You can update directly to Patch 3 because latest patch will include all the enhancements of the older one.

MDM UWL was working fine with MDM 5.5 SP05 but there are some issues with MDM 5.5 SP06. Its a good option to update the patch to latest one.

Hi Jitesh,

Right now, I am upgrading server to MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch03 Hotfix4. And one more doubt, I am using MS Visio 2007.As I already told, Using this tool I am able to define & edit workflow. But I have seen one SAP Note regarding this. It tells like given below.

"6) Visio 2007 is installed, but it is not yet supported by MDM 5.5. Please

note that if you did open an existing WF with 2007 it may corrupt it!!!"

SAP Note No:1012747.

Here what is my question is, whether I need install Visio 2003 or 2007 is enough?.

Thanks,

Hi Venkatesh,

I have worked on many MDM verions and Visio 2003 so honestly speaking i have no idea about 2007 but if it is mentioned some where then its better to use the one which many people are using. I advice to go for visio 2003 only.

Hi,

I am using EP 7 SP13. Is anywhere I need to mention portnumber of reposiotry in portal while configuring UWL with MDM?.

Thanks,

Hi Venkatesh,

No need to specify port number. At the time of System creation you will get the list of loaded repositories available on the MDM server you are connecting with and you can select the desired repository.

Hi Venkatesh,

After upgrading the server have you deployed the SCAs of same version? Also you need to start the portal server after deploying the files.

Hi Jitesh,

I have upgraded the MDM server to MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch03 Hotfix4.I have upgraded following components.

MDM Server

MDM Business Content

MDM Gui Clients

MDM Java API

Portal Content

In Portal, I have undeployed older files and deployed belown new files through SDM.

BPMDMAPPLI06_3.sca

BPMDMTECHN06_3.sca

MDMJAVAAPI06_3.sca

After that I have restarted the server. Then, I refresed com.sap.mdm.uwl , com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl components and cleared UWL Cache as per the document. I have mapped MDM system with portal using 'Admin' user.

System connection tests are fine. UWL connection test also successfull.

And also, I have created a new workflow for business partner repository.

I have set approver as owner.

Trigger Actions : Record Add, Record Update

AutoLaunch : Immediate.

Then, I have created new record from portal, it is added MDM repository. Workflow also triggered. I am able to see workflow entry in DataManager using Admin. But not coming to UWL.

Is any steps that I am missing here?

Else, Is anywhere I am wrong?

Please let me know.

Note: I didn't change any existing workflow in business partner repository.

Thanks,

Hi Venkatesh,

All the steps looks proper to me.

Just check the below steps whether you have performed or not

1. Assign EU and EU_core roles to the portal user (Map portal Administrator user with the Admin user of the repository)

2. Tables with Workflows property of the MDM system should be set to the table name on which workflow is created.

3. Refresh the UWL iView from iView itself.

Jitesh Talreja

Hi Jitesh,

I did already. I assigned eu_role to portal user. In Table with Workflow property I have given code of the Table(MDM_BUSINESS_PARTNERS) and also refershed the UWL iView.

I have tried using Java API with my own component, it is working fine. I think, the proplem might be in UWL configuration XML file. Because, in that xml file, they have pointed some iviews. For example

<Property name="iview" value="pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/specialist/com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.mdm_550/com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.roles/com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.business_expert/com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.bupa_occ/com.sap.pct.mdm.appl.bupa.show_records_of_job"/>

But, I am not able to find above mentioned iview in portal content. Is it a problem?.

Hi Venkatesh,

This can be the problem but just wanted to ask you whether you have tried the entire scenario with some other repository? There can be some issues with the std business partner repository.

Hi Jitesh,

Ohh...I tried only with business partner and products reposiotries. And also, I have tried to connect custom repository with result set iView. It was working fine. But I didn't try with entire scenario.

If you have any idea with UWL config file for custom repository, pls let me know.

Thanks,

Hi Venkatesh,

You dont have to change any thing in the config file. Just create a new repository (not std one) and try the scenario forget about the config file but remember to mention Tables with Workflows property.

Hi Jitesh,

I tried with My Custom repository. I have created new connector in UWL Admin, Cleared the UWL cache ,system connection is successful and mentioned workflow table code in system. I am able to retrieve custom repository records with result set iViews. It has work items for mapped user. But no entries in UWL.

Hi Venkatesh,

If you are using Standard SAP Shipped content then it may need some configurations to be done in UWL.config file but if you are following the same procedure as you did for Custom repository with Business Partner repository it should work.

Just a guess but not sure.

Hi Venkatesh,

Microsoft Visio and UWL is not at all related. If you are able to create workflows in MDM data manager then the version is compatible with Visio. UWL just act as a frontend.

Lets try one thing.

1. Create one new repository.

2. Create the System for it and try to create ResultSet iView. Just to check whether the portal and MDM server is connected or not.

Hi Venkatesh,

Check whether the portal user has assigned an "eu" role which is mandatory in order to access the UWL functionality.

Currently I am using MS Visio 2007. Is it supported version for MDM 5.5 SP06?.

Thanks,

Venkatesh

Former Member

Hi Venkatesh,

MDM 5.5 SP06 comes with differnt patches,as far as i now the MDM SP06 patch 2 had some issues with the use of MDM workflows through portal UWL but that problem as of the second user step not visible in portal, however the task were appearing in the uwl pane as required.

I did not here of any problem with uwl with other Patches of mdm 5.5 sp06.

However it is recommented that you use the latest version and patch of MDM at present i feel it is SP06 Patch3.

Also note that you need to deploy the 3 sca file on portal as per the MDM patches so if you are using patch1 for instance you sca file must also be of patch1 or else it wont work correctly.

1.BPMDMAPPLI06_1.sca

2.BPMDMTECHN06_1.sca

3.MDMJAVAAPI06_1.sca

Besides i am also unsure of MS visio's 2007 compatibility with MDM5.5.As of now MS visio 2003 standard and professional both works but i am not sure of 2007.

This could be an issue.

Hope It Helped,

Hi Venkatesh,

Please refer the below link

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/771f1a61-0e01-0010-daa9-93a52905...

I would like to suggest you that insteading of using Business Partner repository, first try with some Test repository and check whether you are getting the tasks in UWL iView. Also specify the main table name in the System property Tables with Workflow which is must for getting the items in UWL iview.

If you are trying with new repository keep the Admin user as the workflow owner and perform the user mapping with the Admin user only

Also refer to below thread it may be useful to you.
