solution manager architecture diagram

Hello Experts

I've been looking, for a while now, for an architecture diagram which shows the flow of data from managed systems to Solution Manager. I am not able to find such a document and I really don't understand why. In my view, such a diagram should be available in any Solution Manager documentation.

In any case, I am a bit confused about all what I read:

Some SAP documentation says Wily is only for non ABAP systems, maily Java systems. Yet, I can see ABAP data in Wily.

Some Diagrams, that I could get my hands on, say Diagnostic Agents communicate directly with Solution Manager, some others say Diagnostic Agents send data to Wily. Where is the truth?

Do host agents communicate with Solman directly or with another component?

Where do the the Extractor Framework come into play? I saw lately in a diagram that extractors extract data from Wily into the BW of Solution Manager. However, I also saw a dotted line from the Managed system to Extractor Framework.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Kamel Soumeur

Solution Manager monitoring is the complete and final solution so everthing should be connected to it. Rest all elements may or may not be connected depending upon the case or usage scenario.

remember you can use Wily for non sap without solman also but it is a different topic.

    check links below (FAQ)

    https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/TechOps/FAQ0022

do refer below to understand the various elements of wily itself

    https://help.sap.com/viewer/c413647f87a54db59d18cb074ce3dafd/7.2.05/en-US/213ff439b43b45fb8381d3d9c5cf6267.html

please note with new MAI the entire infrastructre is more focussed on Diagnostic agents which you can see in my first wiki picture shared which relies on all hosts whether that host has ABAP or JAVA or WILY.....etc...but ultimately giving inputs to solman where centrally you can utilize the information in monitoring area.

hope it clarifies all and wish you good luck

feel free to close thread if query is answered

    Thanks

    Hi Prakhar

Thanks for the Wiki but it does not address my question.

    1) This diagram shows Wily Introscope as a data provider but does not show how data flows into it.

    2) In the EFWK section at the bottom of the article, the definition given to the extractor framework is: The extractor framework, consist on the data providers which supply data to the Data Provider Connector.

At the beginning of the article, it defines data providers as being: Data provider (for example, diagnostics agent, Wily Introscope or ABAP RFC)

I don't think that the extractor framework consists of Diagnostics agents, Wily Introscope or ABAP RFC. The extractors are within solution manager and can be seen in the workcenter "SAP Solution Manager Administration". If you think I am wrong, pls let me know.

    3) The following link gives a definition of the extractor framework. It looks to me to be a more acurate definition. Do you agree? If not, pls let me know.

    Thanks.

    Hi Prakhar

Thank you very much for this Wiki. It answers pretty much my questions.

One last question: I see no communication line between the ABAP managed system and Wily Introscope. I know that I am able to see ABAP data in Wily. Is it the Diagnostic Agent on the ABAP system which sends data to Wily using a PUSH data provider like it is the case for a Java system?

    Thanks.
