Standard Functionality of Catalog Profile in PM Notification

Hi Experts,

I would like to understand the standard functionality of Catalog Profiles which will be used in PM notifications.

Test Case:-We have maintained relevant Catalog Profile in Equipment Maser (No Catalog Code maintained in Functional Location), only “B” Catalog Codes maintained in the Profile which is maintained in the Equipment Master.

Another Catalog Profile maintained in the Notification, here we have maintained 5, 2, A, B, C (Not * for all) maintained common code groups for 5, 2 ,C and A.

As per my understanding, in the standard SAP, Catalog Code Groups and Codes display in the Notification from the Catalog Profile Maintained in the Equipment Master or Functional Location Master, otherwise it should fetch the data from Catalog Profile maintained in the respective Notification Type.

In our case it is fetching the data from Catalog Profile for the code group B which is maintained in the Equipment For other Code groups (5, C, 2 and A) it is not fetching the data from the Catalog Profile maintained in the Notification. It is giving all the code groups in the drop down (*). Requirement is it should display in F4 only code groups which were maintained in the notification profile.

Can anybody focus some light on this?

Hi Kalyan,

Catalog profiles available in Equipment will be priortized than the one assigned in the Notification Type. This is Standard..

Catalog Profiles are more specific to the Equipment, since Notification is used to create for different Equipment. You need to have uniqness in the data, so the user will be able to update in the Notification.

In case, if some codes are missing the Profile, then you need to add those codes to the Catalog Profiles available in the Equipment.

Thanks Terence for your reply. Here is the example of my issue, which I am looking for solution.

Example:- In the Equipment Profile , I have maintained "B - PARTS".In the Notification Profile I have maintained "5-CAUSE".When I create notification for that Equipment, system should give the list for "B" from Equipment Catalog Profile and for "5" should give the list from CAUSE group from notification catalog profile.In my case what is happening is for "5" I am getting all the Cause codes including CAUSE group which I maintained in notification profile. My requirement is for catalog "5" it should give only CAUSE group list in the F4.

Hi Kalyan,

Check your Notification Catalog Profile OQN6, whether * is given in Code Group.

If you specify the code group, then only specific will be displayed.

I have not given * in the Notification Profile. I have maintained Code Group, even though I am getting total list in F4.
