Values of Variables not correct

Hi All,

We have a problem where the text of the characterstics variables created on Fiscal period infoobject is not correct when the reports are saved to an excel with the option "Export to Excel" from a portal.

especially when the variables are populated through the customer exit.

In the excel you can see the values of all the variables which are used in the report when you save it from portal.

The issue is with the variant K4 of the fiscal period.

There are following system settings right now.

1)No value maintained in the master data table for the fiscal variant K4 in the infooject 0fiscperiod in any BW system we are using.

There is no vallue maintained for the fiscal varinat K4 in the R/3 table T009B as well.

Its not need to be maintained here and therefore it will not be populated in BW as well.

2)The text tables contains the values for K4 that is the text is maintained for the variant K4 for fical period.

2)All the variables created on fiscal period show the correct text except the one which are using cusomer exit.

So input variables gives the correct text but the Year-1 variable gives the wrong text.

If input = 012.2008

and if X1=X-12 in the exit we get text of X1 as mar 2008 in excel when saved.

but there is no issue with the value of the vraibles.

3)The customer exit written for these variables is fine as it returns the correct value and the query results are also correct in all the cases as required.

4) We are facing this issue with almost all the queries which we have tested till now and I dont find any reason for that.

My understanding is that since it is goes to the text table to pick text for any period value and since in customer exit we are not passing the fiscal variants along with fiscal epriod values therefore it picks the first text of fiscal period available from the text table irrespective of the variant.

But there is no issue with these variables values in the portal.

Please let me know if any one has faced this kind of issue and if this can be cured or not.

Since this issue is with all the queries so its not possible to change all the exit code ...If there is any other solution or if someone thinks if there is any other reason for this issue??

Hi Ajeet,

I am just wondering, in your BEx queries, did you select fiscal variant "K4" in the "Filter" section? As per my experience, BEx shows controlling area or chart of account in front of G/L account or cost center (these are the compound of cost objects) if these compund objects are not selected in "Filter" section. This might be similar case for fiscal variant as well, since fiscal variant is compound of fiscal year/period. However, i can't explain why Export to Excel from Portal works.
