Our standard for servers is x64, not IA64. I'm sure that's true for the vast majority of Intel and AMD shops. Our 32 bit 4.0 Solution Manager system is getting bogged down with the 4 GB RAM that 32 bit Window systems support well. We want to replace it with a 64 bit system, but we don't want to support an orphan IA64 server in our IT shop. Any news on this? Or am I missing something? Is there a X64 bit system available and I just don't see it?
Hi.
All you need is the correct installation kit. There is a kit for x64/AMD64 on Service Market Place.
Just follow the links to the correct path.
There is one confusing thing: terms sometimes get mixed up at.
You will find IA64 at service.sap.com/swdc -> entry by application group -> sap tech. components -> sap solman -> sap solman 7.0 -> installation -> Windows Server on IA32 32bit ; Windows Server on IA64 64bit
In this case IA means Intel Architecture not Itanium Architecture (or they just forgot to add x64).
If you follow this link you will find IA64 (which - in that case - means Itanium Architecture), IA32 (Intel Archtiecture 32bit), x64 (windows, solaris,..)
Hope this helps.
/cheers
