11.5 SR4 xMii Installation

Greetings:

I have tried setting up 11.5 xMii on Windows XP Professional. Have installed 11.5 SR1, 2, 3 & 4 patches - in that order.

After installation I am facing the following issue:

- the session variables in irpt files are not being interpreted / parsed by the Report Servlet. If I pass any variable such as , it is not getting parsed.

- Question : am I missing a step in installation? Fyi, I am using JDK 1.4.2_13. Is there any configuration change to ServletExec webapps?

Thanks in advance,

Prasanna.

Jeremy,

Thanks! that helped. I have a fresh install of SR01 followed by SR04.

Applications that use irpts are working fine .. except that I have to use the machine name. The irpts dont work when I use localhost - session variables just dont get set (?)

Is there an additional configuration that I need to do ?

Thanks again,

Prasanna.

Ps. on a side note, when uninstalling servletexec on Windows 2003, observe that system files are getting deleted. Is this an expected behaviour? e.g. files such as services.msc .. and other admin msc files.

Localhost only gets a placebo session, so you will not have full session capability like you will with the machine name. Use the PropertyAccessServlet to see what's in the session. The ReportServlet pulling from the session will only work if the name/value paris show up in the PropertyAccessServlet output, but should always work when passed in the URL "/xxxx.irpt?Name=Value"

As far as the uninstall errors, this is because of the uninstall removing msxml (which you can repair from the MS site) and messing up the mmc applications.

Jeremy

Prasanna,

Installing all of the patches is not necessary, for a new install just the base 11.5 SR01 install (which includes ServletExec) followed by the latest SP (which is now SP05).

I assume you took care of the virtual scripts directory: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_xmii115/helpdata/en/Getting_Started/InstallationGuide.htm#System_Install...

You will get very limited results if you are not logged in (meaning localhost or when it goes right to the personalization screen and shows you 'Localhost Administrator' as the user).

Have you looked at /Lighthammer/PropertyAccessServlet?Mode=List to see what's in your session (real or default localhost one) ?

The JDK version should be fine, is this the only issue you're encountering?

Have you looked at the General logs?

Jeremy
