FTP Error: Could Not Connect to Server - 534 Policy Requires SSL

Hi Experts,

While i am trying to connect with a FTP server,using a telnet i am getting below error.

"534 Policy requires SSL"

From PI File receiver channel i am unable to connect.

I am getting below error

"An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server 'xxxxx:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 Unexpected reply codeAccess denied.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor."

Could you please suggest some solution and also exact reason for this type of errors.

Hi Sampathi,

"534 Policy requires SSL" means the ftp server asked for the secure FTP connection from client. To make a secure FTP connection, in the file receiver channel, you should set "Connection Security" to FTPS, rather as "None". This 550 error occurred, because FTP server asked for FTPS, but PI as ftp client didn't send the data via FTPS. Please configure the FTPS receiver channel as follows:

Yes vivek,

I can able to access thorough WINSCP tool changed to "Explicit encryption" option.

From PI Prospective what i have to change or install any certificated to connect to the FTPS server?

Hi Sampathi,

As per my understanding , if Ping and Telnet is not working , there might be issues with the Firewall. Please check with your network Team. Also , try accessing the Server using some external application like Filezilla etc.

I have tried with this option.But i have to give any use X 09 certificates for authorization and required to install any certificates in SAPPI?

Could you please tell me what exactly i have to check with external FTPS team.
