UJA_FORMULA_APP change initial month after restart the server

Hi BPC Friends

We have set up in the dimension time in BPC May as first month and the model is ytd.

We have restarted the BW Server and in the table

UJA_FORMULA_APP

the initial month was changed.

is that a bug?

Unfortunately the comment chain is over!

In general the rule is simple:

You have standard TIME dimension in ENVIRONMENTSHELL! You have to use something like:

Property values for BASE_PERIOD, LEVEL, MONTHNUM, PERIOD, YEAR has to be set like on the screen!

YEAR - 4 digit fiscal year

just a comment, because these settings were done some years ago, now that the data has been already loaded I think that it is too late. what do you think?

It's not late! Changing properties will not affect data.

BPC Starting Month has no effect on formula etc!

In order to have correct TIME dimension with May as first month of the Year you have to assign PERIOD property for May to JAN (Jun to FEB, etc...)! MONTHNUM property has to be also set correctly: May - 1, Jun - 2... YEAR property has to be set for fiscal year.

I have already answered this question many times, please search!

P.S. If you need to have calendar month name - just create a new property like CALMONTH and fill it with calendar month name. PERIOD is a special property and has to be assigned like I explained in my answer.

Sorry, but it's incorrect! First period of the year is required to have PERIOD property JAN. It's fixed in default MEASURE formula and in many other places (calculations).

Have to repeat third time - it doesn't matter what is the calendar month that starts fiscal year! The PERIOD property HAS to be JAN! Second month - FEB, etc...

It's hardcoded in BPC!

If you need to have information about real calendar month - create new property!

I haven't done it, it is something done by the consultant company and because I joined recently I was wondering if there is a way to avoid that sometime doing the transport BPC doesn't calculate anymore the ytd from may but from jan so the consultant company left a guide to go in the table in BW and changing the formula

Sorry, but your consultant company is absolutely wrong! If they don't understand the required settings of TIME dimension then it's better to change the company 🙂

Instead of changing formula you have to properly setup TIME dimension!

P.S. With incorrect setup of TIME dimension you will have issues with currency conversion and other rules!
