Hi,
Try this link, it's similar to the other post but I think it's easy to follow as it's a pdf.

Hi,
Order Change Management is used together with Engineering Change Management.
When enabled any changes to BOM's, Routing and material masters are locked against a change number. When the change number is released the changes become active and all changes are auditable. The problem comes when a change has been made to a routing for example. What do you do with live production orders that were active before the change was made? OCM is the tool that allows changes to be inserted, where applicable, into these live production orders. It will also flag up error situations i.e. you have introduced a new operation at step 0025 but the production order is already at operation 0040. OCM will highlight this. OCM is also able to flag up affected purchase orders.
