    Hi

    SAPGLOBALHOST

Name of the host on which the central system is installed

    SAPMNT:

Global share that points to the \usr\sap file tree on the central instance

The UNC path names contain two elements.

    A. First, they contain a variable which reflects the server roles of a SAP

    system like globalhost or localhost.

    B. The second element in the UNC path is a share name which is automatically

created during installation of an SAP instance. If the installation

was that of the central instance, two shares are created: sapmnt

and saploc. If another application server of an SAP server is

installed, however, only the saploc share is created.

The two possible UNC paths thus result as follows for windows:

    <SAPGLOBALHOST>\sapmnt

    for access to global data

    <SAPLOCALHOST>\saploc

    for access to instance-specific data

A SAP system has three different types of profiles:

    DEAFULT.PFL u2013 default profile

    START_<instance> - start profile

    <SID>_instance u2013 instance profile

The system parameters are stored in text files on the operating system level

in the global profile directory. Changes to profile parameters may not be done

in the text file directly, but only through a corresponding transaction within

SAP [e.g. RZ10], otherwise the change history will not be complete.

Because of the risk of potential file violations the access

to these files needs to be restricted accordingly.

The corresponding directory path can be identified with the help of the

profile parameter DIR_PROFILE, where the different profile files are stored.

    Windows NT:
    <SAPGLOBALHOST>\sapmnt\<SID>\sys\profile\

NOTE: Please be aware that the system parameters are case-sensitive.

    Hope this helps!!

    Kind Regards

    Esha
