EX2 Kernel Upgrade

Having a problem with a EX2 kernel upgrade.

The current scenario is a central system with:

- Windows 2003 Server 64-bit

- X86_64 Hardware

- 4.6D EXT 32-bit Kernel

- MaxDB 7.6 64-bit

After upgrading to the EX2 kernel, the SAP system will not startup. The dev_w* files show:

ERROR => Get the precompiler version failed : sqlcode=-888 (Could not load libpcr (No registered version (7.5.0) found.))

\[dbslada.c 4234\]

***LOG BY2=> sql error -999 performing CON \[dbsh 0707 \]

***LOG BY0=> \[dbsh 0707\]

***LOG BY2=> sql error -999 performing CON \[dblink 0627 \]

***LOG BY0=> \[dbsh 0627\]

***LOG R19=> tskh_init: db_connect ( DB-Connect 000256) \[thxxhead.c 1187\]

in_thErrHandle: 1

*** ERROR -> tskh_init: db_connect (step 1, th_errno 13, action 3) \[thxxhead.c 8517\]

which appears to be a connection failure to the database.

The following MaxDB client software is installed:

PCR 7300 (7.3.00.60)

PCR 7301 (7.3.01.22)

PCR 7500 (7.5.00.50) 64 BIT

Do I not have the correct MaxDB client software installed? Or do I need to something special since this is a 32-bit kernel combined with 64-bit RDBMS and OS?

Any thoughts?

Hi Everyone,

the message is returned by SAP an the problem has been solved. It seems that

my setup of 4.6C and MAXDB did not register the libpcr. SAP registered it by

issueing following command for "<SID>adm" and "SAPService<SID>":

F:\sapdb\programs\runtime\7500\bin\irconf

-i -p F:/sapdb/programs/runtime/7500

Afterwards R3TRANS -D worked successfully and the system started.

SAP is investigating why this happened and why the system started using

Kernel 4.6D_EXT but not when using Kernel 4.6D_EX2. Maybe there will

be a note in the near future.

Hopefully this information will somebody help. If you still need to open a SAP

message maybe you would like to refer to the following message number:

1071/2013.

Kind Regards,

Hi Everyone,

currently I'm stuck in the same situation. Doing a systemcopy of 4.6C (in order to

upgrade) to Windows 2008 R2 x64 with the latest 4.6D_EX2 Kernel and MaxDB 7.7.

SAP does not start with same error message as mentioned above.

Update with latest 32bit 7.5.00 ART package does not finish, because of different

architecture (AMD64 vs. i386), but that's what I exactly need (I suppose).

Any hints?

Kind Regards,

Carsten

how did you start the 32 Bit setup program?

In order to have the right environment I would suggest to start it in a 32 Bit cmd.exe.

cmd.exe

start %windir%\syswow64\cmd.exe

From this command prompt rerun your command.

regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

good hint. I did it again with CMD.EXE from SYSWOW64 but it does not make

a change unfortunately:

For the 32-Bit SAP Kernel, you will need a 32-Bit precompiler runtime with version 7.5.0.x.

Currently there is just a 64-Bit version of it available, so I propose to install the current 7.6 client with 32-Bit.

Lars

I've tried to install the 32-bit Application RunTime (ART) for 7.6, which surely contains the 32-bit precompiler runtime (PCR) for 7.5.00, but am unable to install as the installation error message given is:

software in package Fastload API is not runnable on your system
FILE MAGIC: MS Windows 32-bit i386 executable dll
YOUR SYSTEM: architecture = AMD64
YOUR SYSTEM: subversion = Service Pack 2
YOUR SYSTEM: system = Windows
YOUR SYSTEM: version = NT 5.2
installation exited abnormally

I was able to install the 64-bit ART for 7.6, but it doesn't contain the 32-bit PCR for 7.5.00, it still only contains the 64-bit PCR for 7.5.00.

Does anyone know where the 32-bit PCR can be found? The above "unsuccessful" ART's were obtained from SWDC -> Support Packages -> Additional Components -> MaxDB ...etc

Also, I should mention that the above installation error message was given during the command line install:

sdbinst -profile "Runtime For SAP AS"

And when the 32-bit ART package installation is attempted with the gui SDBSETUP, the error message "Cannot create package tree: unresolved dependency: package "Base" not found" is displayed.
