Side By Side Installation and Licensing Issues

Hi All,

I currently have Crystal 7.0 installed on my machine as well as Crystal XI R2 (demo version) and Visual Studio 2008.

I want to install the full versions of Crystal XI R2 and Crystal 2008, but talking to the support people, they have said that if I buy the upgrade licence, I will only be able to use the newest version, since it will change the registry licence. I need to have all three running on my machine if possible. This is because I am involved with various projects that have not been updated yet from Crystal 7 , some that use Crystal XI R2 (and will not be upgraded since they are in VB 6.0) and also some Visual Studio 2008 projects that we want to use the full version of Crystal 2008 with.

Looking at the Crystal 2008 page on the web, it states that you CAN still use older versions if you get an upgrade licence for 2008, but I can't find any information about XI R2 licencing.

Bottom line is , can I buy upgrade licences for XIR2 and 2008 and have them run on the same machine as well as having Crystal 7 running or will I need to buy full licences for XI R2 and Crystal 2008, which seems a bit excessive , or can I not do it all, whatever the licence ?!

Any pointers would be very much appreiated as the support advice seems to conflict with the website advice.

To partly anser my own question, I have bought the upgrade licence for XI R2, and contrary to what the support guy said, Crystal 7.0 appears to work as well.

I now have a whole new ball game trying to install the support files for XI R2 on users machines....

Just to close this off, I have CR7, CR XIR2 and CR 2008 all running on the same machine and all licensed with no problems.
