Hi,

I am trying to set the batch management indicator in the material master for a material which is already use in production. The material has no stock, but there some open POs. SAP is not allowing to set the indicator and keep saying that there are some stock (unrestricted and consignment) exists, but there is no stock as per MMBE. Can anyone help? Thanks,

Regards,

Sundar.

it is less difficult to set a batch managment indicator than removing it.

For switching on you do not need to archive anything, you only have to make sure that you have no stock in current and previous period.

Go MM03 and choose view plant stock. There is a option to view the previous period stock.

Then you have to issue the previous period stock first, and the remaining quantity in the current period.

Follow the instructions given in OSS note 30656

Hi,

I have to make it not answered again. Since I don't want to open one more. I have one more open question on this. Everything works as per the above inputs, except if there is a blocked stock in the previous period.

I did unblock (343), then issue out 201 for the previous period. Then I reversed the above and did for current period. Same result. But the blocked stock still shows in material master. I checked the tables, the blocked stock still there in the previous period. I couldn't set the indicator due to this. Can anyone let me know how to remove the blocked stock from the previous period? Thanks,

Hi,

It is very difficult to set the indicator.

The simplest solution is set the deletion indicator to the current material and create a new material master.

Hi Sundar,

You will have to not only delete old PO's and have current stock = 0, but you need have previous period stock = 0. For this you will have to open books for previous period.

Alternate:

Enter a user exit in standrard program which will bypass stock check for previous period. This works very well, and I use it at my client site.

Hi,

Thanks, can you let me know the user exit for the same? Also, do I have to delete old POs? I thought that I need close all open POs.

Also, which movement should be used (201 or 551) to issue out the current stock before set the indicator and use (202 or 552) to return to stock after set the indicator? If you know, please let me know. Thanks,

Hi,

Ok, I could set the indicator for one material after following the steps. (GI for the current stock, OSS notes for previous period) and I didn't even close the open POs, but I could set the indicator.

But for another mateiral, I did exactly as above, but SAP keep complaining that

Consignment stocks from the vendor already exist.

Plant SLoc Batch Vendor

P090 SL90 DC3N

But no stock in the currrent period or previous period. No open PO / Reservatinos etc.

Can anyone help me how to fix the above error? Thanks,

Sundar.

I am bit confused, you startet that you want set batch management indicator, but why do you need to set the indicator for a material that is already batch manged?

your consingment material has already a batch number, see your example

Hello,

You must close mentioned POs and set deletion flag. Than you will be able to set batch management indicator.

Hi,

You need to close all previous period stocks also.

Please check whether stocks still exist for the previous period by displaying, for example, the plant stock view or storage location stock view of the material. You do this by selecting "Extras -> Previous period -> Prev. pd SLoc. stock or Prev. pd plant stock".

If previous period stocks exist, you can make a withdrawal posting as follows:

1. Post the same amount to current period stock (for example, using movement type 561) so that previous period stock and current period stock are identical.

2. Make a withdrawal posting in the previous period for the stock together with posting date (for example, using movement type 562).

You can now try again to change the batch management requirement indicator.
