Creating Catalog Views

Custom Development of Catalog Views.

We are in the process of customizing the items that are available to a

user in a B2B scenario. We have gone through a the notes 696095(ISA R/3

4.0: Collective note on Catalog Views), 677319(ISA R/3 4.0 : Coding

sample assignment of customers to views),677320(ISA R/3 4.0: Coding

sample catalog item assignments to views), but haven't been able to tie

everything together. The following are our concerns:

1> How to assign each customer to a view at runtime ?

2> Do Catalog Views have to be created manually before assigning each

customer @ runtime ? If yes, How do we go about creating them ?

Thanks for the help.

Regards,

Jaleel Syed.

Not sure that an R/3 catalog works the same way as our CRM4 one does..but, here's how we do it.

    1) Create a Target Group for each view and assign the accounts to the appropriate TG by way of an attribute or add them manually.

    2) Yes. This can get a bit time consuming but is the only way I know of. You can do it for a whole subset of items at least...better than having to click on each item individually.

    Hi,

Are you implementing Internet sales R/3 edition? because i have done this for e-commerce, and the way for doing this is to assign BP or target group in the product catalog views, then assign the products to the bp or tg selected.if you want some more details on this then please feel free to ask me.

    Shweta

    Hi,

The SAP Notes 677319 and 677320 you mentioned indicate that you have implemented Internet Sales R/3 Edition.

As the notes mention, assignment of the products to the views and the views to customers are not standard functionality, and require custom development, as mentioned in the sample text file with code "Z_ISA_CUSTOMER_READ_CAT_VIEWS".

    With respect to your questions:

    1. What do you mean when you say "run-time"? Do you want the view to be assigned to the customers as soon as the customers are created? If so, what is the basis for attaching the view?

    2. Yes. You do have to create the views before assigning the views to the customers. They can be created by developing a custom function module as mentioned in SAP Note 677320 - in the sample code - "Z_ISA_READ_CATALOG_ITEM_VIEWS". As mentioned in the sample code, you can use a hierarchy to assign a bunch of materials to a catalog view.

If you are unsure on how to proceed, then you need to consult an ABAP developer.

    Thanks & Regards,

      Hi Nelson/Shweta,

Thanks for your replies. Yes, I am running Internet Sales Application (Ecommerce) with an R/3 backend and have been successfully able to create the custom code dule Z_ISA_READ_CATALOG_ITEM_VIEWS and Z_ISA_CUSTOMER_READ_CAT_VIEWS. What do I do next ? I am an absolute newbie having difficulty tying everything together. I do understand what roles each custom function module plays, but trying to understand how and when each module is executed.

      Appreciate any help!.

      Thanks and Regards,

      Jaleel Syed.
