Apply new support package: re-development effort

Hello,

We have R/3 edition of internet sales 5.0. working fine. We are using NWDI (DTR, CMS, CTS services). All the SC's are on SP6.

We are planning to upgrade all SC's from SP6 to SP10. Planning to create a new track in NWDI for customer modifications. Has anybody worked on this scenario?

I would like to know how much time it takes for the re-development (approx). What are the tools are used to minimize the development effort? Lets assume that the enhancements are less. Kindly share your experience and the challenges you faced...

Appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Shubhangi

    HI,

When you upograde from SP6 to SP10, all your SCs will upgrade to that level, even your custom SCs also.

As you are asking about create a new track and re-dvelopment.

that means you have already developed something, and its track is still there at your NWDI.

if it is then no need to re-develope.

still if you want to create a new track for new development of same application, then go for a track copy.

you can create a same duplicate new track, which includes current development .

Thanks Snehal for your prime time.

Do you meant to say, if i upgrade SC's from SP6 to SP10, all the custom modifications will be there?

If yes, what about the standard files which are modified to match the customer requirement. They will be overwritten according to me in upgrade.

If no, then we need to compare files and then integrate custom changes into new standard files. What do you think?

    Appreciate your help...

    Thanks,

      Hi Shubhangi,

********Do you meant to say, if i upgrade SC's from SP6 to SP10, all the custom modifications will be there?

No, all the custom modifications will be overriden with the new SCA file i.e SP10, so you did not see any of your modification in your TRACK which you created with SP6.

So , you have to create two tracks one is BASE SP10 standard SCA delivered by SAP. Another one for the modifications say example CUSTOMSP10 , now you ahve to compare the delta with existing custom SP6 track. once you find the delta's modify the CUSTOMSP10 and build.

Please keep post if you ahve nay issues and concerns.

      Thanks
