Can anyone please tell me what all can be the disadvantages of refurbishing an equipment without serializing it ?

Hi Pars,

You can have refurbishment Order without serialising equipment.

There is no disadvantage of not serialising equipment but u do hv the advatages if u serialise equipment -

1) U can track the Equipment ( Tool ) Life after refurbishement if u serialise it.

2) If u r refurbishing the Equipment from outside vendor with serialisation u can compare refurbishment quality of different service provider.

3) Compare the life of Equipment ( Refurbishment Efficiency with New Equipment)

Hi Prashanth,

There is no any disadvantge whthere you are using serialised or non serialised material for refurbuishment.It is verywell possible for the refurbuishment order withour serialised material too.

Further activating equipemnt view is for capturing the individual identy of the spare from technical perspective.

In both the cases the costing gets updated on the material under valuation.

It is the need of the industry how they want to use its features.

As far as i understand, You can only create a refurbishemnt order for a material and not for an equipment. So to facilitate creation of Refurb orders for Equipment you have to have a material number which is serialized. The best process would be to create a material for the equipments and then serialize it, activate the equipment views using IQ02. This way you can install or dismatle the equipment, and refurbishment is possible as the material number is available.

what are the account posting need to amin in the background when the store recive the material.

Dear Prsanth,

First of all system will not allow you to create refurbishment order if you have not serialized your material.

Process: You are dismentalling the equipment and sending to store....Issueing.....Refurbishment.....then sending back to store...doing settlement...

AT the the time of dismantalling and sending to store it will ask for serialization.
