Extracting data from Oracle DB into SAP BI using DB connect

Hi,

I want to extract data from Oracle DB to SAP BI, using DB connect. When i tried creating the source system of type Database system (Data and Metadata Using SAP DB Connect), i am getting the following error.

1. Database error 12154 at CON

Short Text:

Database error &6 at &7

After the attempt to call a database operation, the database system has returned the error code specified in the message, which indicates that the operation concerned could not be executed successfully.

2. ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier

The files tnsnames.ora and SQLNET.ora are present in my system.

Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue.

Is it because of any problem in BI side or is it related to Oracle side?

Hi,

I think u r not giving the correct information about the oracle system while creating the source system.

Again verify if all the information about the oracle system which u are using are correct.

Hi Ajeet,

All the information given to me regarding the Oracle database is mentioned correctly when i created the source system. Are you sure the error is because of incorrect oracle DB information?

Hi,

This error

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier

means that there is some issue with the connection and your system is trying to connect but you havent given the correct information or the oracle system is not ready for that.

I would suggest you take the help of Basis and see if this connection can work or not.

Hi Renju,

check the firewall between your SAP System and the Oracle database. Will it allow the request packages past? Is the Oracle Portnumber free for your SAP system ?
