BOXI3.0: Universe and Local Data Source Selection

Hello. Alias here.

I have one question.

For the full XI3.0 installation, one of the products is Web Intelligence Rich Client.

In Web Intelligence Rich Client, we can have Data Source Selection which is Universe and Local Data Source. But for Web Intelligence/InfoView, we can only select universe, or maybe canu2026 I need to explore more but still could not find it.

Hope to get your help in this matter.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Alias

I believe this is because webi/infoview is a server application, there is no local data source. In webi/infoview all universe connections must be made from the server.

The WRC which was just added in 3.0 is expanding that boundry by allowing you a new client tool that IS capable of local connections.

You should have the functionality you need between the 2. The WRC is also set up so clients that don't have it can be allowed to download it from the server instead of running webi/infoview -if needed.

Hi Tim.

Thanks for replying back and I can understand it.

WRC we need to install for every user desktop right? But for Webi/inforview we only install at server.

In term of licensing, how it works?

I'm not sure what the licensing issues will be, I'd assume they will come in the concurrent user sessions. I think you can install WRC for everyone without any special licensing. However when the users connect it will go off your existing concurrent/named user licenses in the server. There shouldn't be a difference from a webi session on the server or client license wise...

Tim
