Release activities in NWDI

Our project will be moved to the new development environment form the current NWDI environment. Before the movement, we need to activate and release all the activities present in the current NWDI environment. What steps need to be followed for the same?

Hi,

You can activate and release your activities from NWDS. Activate them from open activity view,

And from transport view you can release them.

And when you release them just select all the activities waiting to transport, and release them.

dont release one by one activity.

Hi Snehal,

I have activated all the activities in the activity view. In the transport view, only the node for main development track is available, and its status flag is available as released. Development components or activities to be released are not available in the transport view.

Thanks,

Tushar

HI,

Yes that means your all activities are released. and present at your consolidation compartment.

so your NWDS's work is finished.

Now you only need to go to CMS of NWDI and assemble it.

Hi,

As per your help, I did all the things. But the released activities are not available in the consolidation compartment.

Actually I didnt find any activity for release in the transport view after checkin and activation, but only the main development track with status flag as 'Released' was available always.

Can you help if I have missed some step?

Thanks,

Tushar Patil

Hi,

All your activities are activated successfully?

Yes, I have activated all the activities and the changes are reflecting in the application. But, I am not able to find them in the transport. I guess those are being released automatically after activation. No activities available for manual release in transport view and in consolidatin tab in CMS. To aware you, The main development track is available under Assembly compartment in CMS with state assembly.

Does it mean no consolidation needed at all?

Hi !

Did the activation succeed ? Then, you should be able to see these activities under the Waiting node in the Transport View if you select the correct track in the Local DCs View. You will not see them in CMS unless you release them there. Otherwise (if your requests were not activated successfully), you should see these activities in the Activation View.

Hi @all,

I still have the same Problem. I am new to the nwds developement project, implemented my changes, checked them in and activated them. But the activities are still in "Activation view" in "Developement Component Perspective". In "DTR Perspective" the activities can be found in "Closed Activities". There is no "waiting node" in the transport view, I can only see the "released node" there.

Is there a helpful expierience I can follow on? Where can I take a look to see if the activation was not successfull?

Thanks in advance,

Stefan

It seems your activation failed for some reason. If you try to re-activate your activity from the "Activation View" (select "Open Request View"), you should be able to see the "Activation Results" in the "Activation Requests" view (if you open the "Activation Requests" view, maybe you'll be able to locate the last attempt's results). In the "Activation Log" (select "View Activation Log"), you should see why the activation failed. If you cannot, post your activation log, maybe someone will be able to point out the problem.

Hi,

thank you for your good answer. I've switched to the "Activation Request" view but there are no Activation Log Entries available. Instead of this I can see the following message: "Result not yet available because request still in process". I took a look into the CBS of the NWDI, there I can see the activities. All requests of the activities are still running. How could this happend?

Here is an additional information: The state of the activity is "closed".

Thanks in advance,

Stefan

I guess you did refresh the Request view? It doesn't refresh automatically and I'm not sure it updates automatically between multiple starts of NWDS.

The activation needs some time, but if it isn't finished after some fifteen minutes or so, I'd investigate if there is something wrong with your CBS, but I'm not an expert in CBS configuration, so maybe someone else can be of assistance it that's the case.

Hi,

yes I did a view refresh, but it doesn't take an effect. Is there a good documentation about how to develope with track based developement components? Maybe I should start from scratch. (The code changes are allready checked in. If I am going to import a remote developement component, I can see the changes I've done.)

Thanks,

Stefan

I considered [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0b2b146-5776-2910-4a8f-9b3190eab060] a good starting point, but it's about NW 2004, although it shouldn't have changed that much in 7.0. You'll find more [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/howtoguides]. I found some other documents quite helpful, but I do not remember the links. Search for "SAP Netweaver Developer's Guide".

Hi,

thank you for your references.

I've got some good news about my problem, I could solve it.

I've rebooted the nwdi server (where the requests are running and running and running...), and now I can see the "waiting" node and can go on with the transport workflow. Let me say it like this, the reboot solved the problem.

Thank you for your quick and good help,

Stefan

release activities is also possible by using cmstools (component of DICLIENTS)

see SAP Blog: https://blogs.sap.com/2013/09/25/release-activity-using-the-cmstool/

in our cases we are transporting MII implementations without using NWDS.

Released activities are not available in consolidation compartment.
