CATS - Cost distribution a per Receiver Object entry

Hi All,

I am posting attendance hours against each project by giving WBS element as a receiver object.

eg. Today - 2 hours on WBS 1, 3 hours on WBS 2 & 3 hours on WBS 3

Yesterday - 8 hours on WBS2

My question is if i am not mainting any cost distribution in info type 027 cost is not getting distributed against receiver objects maintined in CATS.

If in am maintining those WBS elements in info types cost distribution screen by maintaining distribution % system is distribution cost as per the maintained % and not as per the CATS posting.

Please tell me how link the cost distribution as per the data (Receiver object) entered in CATS to payroll to distribute the cost. I dont want fixed % distribution as told above, I want it as per CATS data entry for receiveer object.

I do not think there is any link between the distribution of time in CATS and that in Info type 0027. Even if you are finding that there is a relation in that case, please let me know what do you have in info type 0027 against "Distrib". This might be having an effect on the cost distribution.

Will you please let me know following:

1. Are you able to post time without infor type 0027?

2. If you are able to post time without info type 0027, what is the transaction you are using for posting time after time entry?

I am doing time / hrs posting through CAT2 by maintining receviver object as a WBS element and nothing else.

I dont want to maintian any cost distribution in infor type 027 cost distribution screen. Cost distrubution should happen as per data recorded in CAT2 against receiver objects (WBS element).

You did not answer to my second question completely. What transaction you are using for posting(transferring) time after time entry.

When posting hrs against WBS element CAT5 is not required so not doing any transfer posting, CATA ia also not working saying no data for transfer for CO posting.

Running payroll directly.

Yes, CAT5 will not work for this. You have to use CAT7 - transfer to accounts. This is same as clicking check box 'Controlling' in CATA. For transferring to WBS Element, yoiu have to do this only then it will et transferred. But no time gets transferred automatically without carrying out transfer transaction. Try this now and let me know.

Please answer the following:

1. Under which column you are putting WBS Element in CAT2 screen?

2. Have you mentioned sending cost center and sending activity type in CAT2?

3. Have you manitained rate for the relation of cost center and activity type?

4. Remove WBS Element from infor type 0027 of HR Master record of the employee.

5. Is it possible to share screen shots of the time entry you are doing? This screen shot should include all the relevant columns.

6. Share the screen shot of CAT7 transaction initial screen.

As you mentioned in another message, you wanted to know how do we transfer costs directly to project from HR. Please mantain relevant WBSE in info type 0027. As and when salary is posted, WBS Element is picked up from 0027 and posted.

Girish I already given my exact requirement iin my 1st post.

I am entering WBS element in Receiver WBS Elemeent column.

I am entering A/A Type

I am entering hrs

I am not using any Network / Activity so no need to maintian network, activity, activity type columns.

In HR master data for info type 0027 nothing is maintained.

Only this much data i am entering.

I have tested the process you are saying and I am able to see costs. Is it possible to share screen shots? If you doing as you have mentioned, you should be able to post time cost through CAT7 transaction. (I hope that you are not giving any posting date in CAT7 transaction.) If CAT7 is not working then try posting using CATA transaction as mentioned in my earlier post.

I did not find sender cost center in the reply that you sent. Without sender cost center how will the cost gets transferred. Sender cost center is required in CAT2 transaction. In case it is not mentioned there then it might be in info type 315. Check this information.

Payroll run should post cost to the cost center of the employee. I do not think you need to assign cost center in info type 0027, there must be some other way in HR master as well as Payroll. This part I am not aware.

I maintained sender cost center in IT 315, but in cat2 whenever i am maintaining it that field is getting blank

I do not see any reason beyond this why CAT7 is saying no data. Only way now is that I will have to connect to your computer remotely and see what is happening.

Can you go to CJI3 report to check whether there is already cost on the WBS Element. I do not remember clearly whether there is any setting in Data Entry profile which transfers costs immediately after posting.

Please let me know following also:

1. Do you need to release time sheet after it is posted in CAT2?

2. After release, should you need approve the time sheet?

Do these before you do transfer of time sheet entries. Even after the above is CAT7 says there is no data, then there is a serious issue. In my initial response, I thought you are already doing these.
