Dear Friends,

On trying to see the Preview of Reports in design time the following error is giving.

Failed to load database information

Details: The database connector 'crdb_oracle.dll' could not be loaded.

The correct version of database client for this database type might not be installed.

I have reinstalled CR2008.

Next what should I do to rectify this problem, it was running fine till yesterday.

Thanks and regards.

Hi,

The error message you receive i.e.

u201CORA-12514: TNS Listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptoru201D

is an Oracle error and could be resolved with the help of DataBase Administrator at your end.

The following document would be helpful:

ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor

Cause: The listener received a request to establish a connection to a database or other service. The connect descriptor received by the listener specified a service name for a service (usually a database service) that either has not yet dynamically registered with the listener or has not been statically configured for the listener. This may be a temporary condition such as after the listener has started, but before the database instance has registered with the listener.

Action:

- Wait a moment and try to connect a second time.

- Check which services are currently known by the listener by executing: lsnrctl services <listener name>

- Check that the SERVICE_NAME parameter in the connect descriptor of the net service name used specifies a service known by the listener.

- If an easy connect naming connect identifier was used, check that the service name specified is a service known by the listener.

- Check for an event in the listener.log file.

Dear Alpana,

Thanks a lot for all your effort, The problem which I was facing is solved by our DBA as they have somesettings in server and those have to be get done after installation.

Well what ever it may be, Thanks a lot to you.

Myself is very new to CR2008, so dont know these things and get confused, so I put each and every ques. in forum as here is no one who knows CR and I could get any help from them.

And I have to do my job as Bosses are always correct.

Thanks and regards
