Aggregate activation taking too much of time

Hi Friends,

There are set of aggreates on a cube. These aggregates were use to get filled and activated in 5 to 10 min earlier. From past few days these aggregates are taking hours to fill and activate. Is there any way that I can investigate this or improve.

Thanks and regards,

Balaraj

HI Balraj,

Please compress requests present in cubes. Please talk to business and keep 3 - 6 months requests uncompressed.

Agregation is done on to uncompress requests. There are many requests from 2-3 yrs so its taking long time. Some days it will be done in less time also .

You can do the request compression through Right click on cube-> Manage -> Rollup -> give the request number till you want compression and execute.

If this solves your problem. Alot the points.

Regards,

Mahesh

Do you have a lot of masterdata attributes in the aggregate? They slow things down considerably.

Hi,

You can check RSRV as said and also you can check the indexes of the aggregates if it is intact or not.

This will give you idea about the indexes which generally get degenrated becasue of various issues.

Also you can check if you are using any line item dimension in the aggregated or not.

This will make the size of aggregates as big as the cube itself and theerefore it will take more time to roll up the aggregates.

Thanks

Hi,

You can run RSRV tests from the TCode RSRV for aggregates.

If you find any inconsistencies in the check, correct them with the correct error option.

If there are no inconsistencies, then you need to refresh the statistics on the cube.

You can find this option in mange of cube -> performance tab -> refresh stat.

Thanks Kiran for your reply. The data volume in last few requests is not much. There is no change in number of data that is loaded to these cubes.
