Adding authoization field to authorization object R/3 4.7

Hi

We have to control costing module authorizations on the plant level & we tried to add auhtorization field WERKS to authorization object K_FVMK. through SU21 under object class CO.

However every step seems to be ok but while adding field , the changes are not being allowed as it remains always in display mode whereas as while adding any field , the SAP system should switch over to change mode.

    Hello Sumit Gupta,

I have successfully added authorization field.

    Listed below is the procedure:

    1. Run transaction SU21.

    2. Double click on co.

    3. Double click on an authorization object you desired.

    4. In the pop up window, click f5.

    5. Go to "Authorization fields", click on an empty field and then press f4.

    6. Double click on authorization field that you desired, it will be added into the authorization object . Click Save button.

    Best Regards,

    Jacky

    Dear Jacky

We have done the same procedure earlier also. The problem with our set up while adding authorization field by clicking F5 , the pop screen does not go to change mode.

    It remains in deispaly mode.

Also a message pops up showing

" Field assignment for object K_FVMK cannot be

changed as auth. for it exist."

Hence authorization field can not be added in the required object.

    Please further look forward.

    Thanks

    Sumit Gupta.

This is expected behavior. Once an auth object is used in authorizations (in roles or profiles) you cannot modify that object. You are trying to modify an object which is already in use.

If you absolutely have to modify K_FVMK follow these steps:

    1. find all roles (and profiles) that contain this object

    2. remove all instances of this object from all roles and profiles

    3. now modify K_FVMK (add WERKS, if that's what you want)

    4. add K_FVMK in all roles and profiles you removed it from in step 1

Note: You are modifying a SAP standard object. Analyze what will happen during upgrade or support pack application. Evaluate if a custom auth object would be a better solution.
