When is a buffering is used in number ranges.How to set it.

Uses of the Number Range Buffering, or you might consider buffering in case you are looking for any of the below:

The number range buffer is used to increase performance when assigning numbers. Instead of fetching the numbers each time from the database, a single access to the buffer suffices. Only when the buffer is empty, is it refilled from the database (table NRIV).

Before you choose to buffer your number range, one common issue found: When buffering number intervals, gaps may result in number assignment. Buffering is therefore not possible for applications, which require continuous number assignment: some countries/ customers do not allow irregular assignment of nos. to their customers/ documents etc.

The no. range buffer checks whether it has already has an area in the buffer in the mentioned no range intervalu2014if not, then the no range tries to fetch nos from the table NRIV. These are handled by work processes.
