FIFO Strategy

Hi Gurus

Can I have some suggestion on this...

We have a Plant in Joilet which we are using FIFO strategy for picking.

This Plant receives Mat1 from Vendor. It is received with GR date with

batch number. This material is issued to Manufacturing Plant at

Rockford for production. The complete material is not consumed and

return back to Joilet. Now the GR date of this material changes with

new date while receiving. The next time when this material is required

at Rockford the new material with different batch goes and the old

material which has new GR date is not picked and may get expired at

joilet that is the not proper rotation of material takes place at

Joilet due to FIFO Strategy. Is there any way so that materials are

picked in the right rotation. Should I have to use any other strategy

or any custom defined strategy.

Hope I would be able to explain the problem.

Points would be definitely awarded...

Hi,

I'd take a look at batch determination strategies if I were you. That way the oldest batch could always be used first.

Hello Arvind,

I have a suggestion, which might result into a business process change at yor client's side..

Instead of managing goods with FIFO strategy ask your client to do it based on FEFO( First Expiry first out)--since the goods have an expiry date associated with them, this strategy would be applicable..

I hope this helps..

Thanks a lot. I think FEFO is not standard picking strategy. Can you please let me know the configuration setup.

Thanks in advance.
