Weird phenomenon: Multiple Selection on MatchCode Screen sometimes available sometimes not

Hi Folks,

we just stumbled upon a weird phenomenon:

In some systems multiple selections are possible for fields like material number, customer number or vendor number when using the F4-help, but in some it's not. It happens independent of user or whether it's related to a Z-object.

Here is an example:

Transaction XD03 to display a customer:

QA-System #1

QA-System #2

Funnily enough, in the related dev-systems this is the other way around and in the system where all this originates, the multiple selection is available. We first noticed this for some Z-tables but the common denominator seems to be screens generated for match-codes and/or search help.

Has anybody come across this and knows how to fix it? I already tried finding something on Support.SAP but didn't see anything really promising (well, there was one note but it's too old).

We are NW7.50 SP7 EHP8

I found this note and it seems to work on ehp8/ehp7

Not sure why I didn't find that note when I searched for various terms. Or, I didn't see it in the way too many hits that were returned. I'll check with our basis team if the default setting can be updated system-wide.
