Matthew,

have a look at this post:

I guess nearly the some problem, isn't it?

Klaus Kellers' replay:

You could try the following:

1) If exists, remove the folder <DRIVE>:Program FilesCommon FilesInstallShieldUniversalSAP and all sub-folders

2) Check your registry as described in

Hope this helps,

Regards

As I said, it's a clean install. No prior install. I've tried already what Klaus suggested, and reinstalled - still fails

Hi Matt,

I am no expert with the ABAP stack, but I had a similar problem once with the Java stack.

What helped me was deleting the "dbtech" key in the registry (along with all other SAP keys) and then starting the installation again. Could you also try it?

Again, I have never really worked on the ABAP stack so I dont know if you will even find the key in your registry, but as the key is created by the MaxDB installation, I think you might be able to find it there.

Hello Matt,

The error is:

>

>Sat Aug 30 07:09:10 CEST 2008 MaxDB sdbinst: DBNAME Instance already exists

>Sat Aug 30 07:09:10 CEST 2008 MaxDB sdbinst: Database NSP must not exist

>

Previous ABAP Trials use also the database name NSP. Please check whether you have an entry in start menu for MaxDB -> Installation Manager. If so, try to unistall MaxDB instances and software prior to the installation of the new version.

Kind regards,

Klaus

Phew...

I'm sorry.

That's the reason why I use VMware for the trials.

Good luck.

VMWare - excellent suggestion. Downloading Suse Linux and will attempt NetWeaver for linux in a VM.

Thanks
